Samsung S23A700D Owners Information/Help

you don't get a serial number, the software itself is licensed to samsung, just install that one first & then istall the latest tridef software over it (current version is 5.2).
& don't forget to install the monitor's driver which are also on the monitor's CD.

@Merlin5

the monitor's 2d to 3d conversion is a waste of time, you will need Tridef for 3D pc gaming & proper 3D movies like half sbs & you can also use any media player.

Awsome, so it will just see I have a previous version installed and "upgrade" them so to speak?

Thank you for all the helpful information :) Not really messed about wtih 3D or anything like this before!

It seems too easy to be true! I hope it's that easy!

software installation is so simple but once you run it it may not find all your installed games,if this is the case then all you have to do is drag & drop the game exe into the tridef window & select the game's name from the tridef list of supported 3D games,if your game is not on the list then try running it in virtual 3D mode.

Does anyone know if the SSG-4100GB model glasses will work? Says they're a follow up to the 3050 and 3100.

EDIT: Bought a pair of the SSG-4100GB glasses for 28 euro delivered :) I was checking the compatible models and it works on same tv's as the 3100 so theoretically it should work on the same monitors aswell.

Cheapest I can see in Ireland in 23 euro without VAT. No free shipping to Ireland only UK. :(

Ah I see, didn't know you're in Ireland. Still, there's a certain huge and famous PC retail high street outlet that is selling them for £14.99, to collect in store or be delivered. I'd check your local stores, see if they have it.

Well we haven't had a big C in my town for a while and as for the personal computer world store everything we have here is nearly twice the price of the UK counter parts......and that's if they even know what I'm talking about :) They try to be helpful but f me they're clueless about a lot of stuff.

Damn, sorry to hear that man. :( Well, if you're sure you can't get a pair for the £14.99 they have on their website, I guess you've got them for the best price you can find. Remind me not to live in Ireland (j/k). :p

No need to joke, lol, this country is a **** hole. Run by retards signing away everything at the blink of an eye to get there thumb further up Europe's arse.

Hi all. I was just talking to a guy that sells Samsung everything and he informed me that the ONLY compatible glasses for this monitor are:

SSG-M3050GB

SSG-M3750CR

This is what he sent me:

"If these are for a monitor they will not work as you need the SSG-M3050GB(BATTERY) or the SSG-M3750CR(RECHARGABLE)3d glasses to work with your monitor".

Then he explained that the 'M' in M in M3050GB is for monitor.

EDIT: "Please dont get confused with SSG-3050GB(for d-series tvs)and the model you require SSG-M3050GB(M IS FOR MONITOR!)as you can easily make the same mistake. I can find the rechargable model on ****, the SSG-M3750CR from uk sellers so this is your best option"

So I just have it set up a few mins, installing the TriDef driver and stuff off the disc now. Do i have to download newer versions to run certain games?

Also if I do should i install over it or is it like CCC and you just download application profiles? Ty

I bought the SSG-M3150GB glasses to use as a spare pair for my S23A700D and can confirm it that it is same ones you get with the monitor and 100% working.

You known what's weird though? The yellow sticker on the box says M3150GB but when I look on the glasses it just says 3100GB, no 'M'. Can you confirm yours are like this aswell?

Would they re brand 3100GB's as M3150GB to get rid of stock? I'd nearly buy a pair of normal 3100GB to see.

EDIT: Can you PM me where you bought yours please? I'm looking for another pair.

Well my S23A700D arrived three hours ago and I am just getting around to playing with it now. I like it, no dead pixels so far and picture seems to be very good.

The only problem I am having is 3D from tridef. Well, I have only tried one game so far and that is Skyrim. Anytime I launch the game and try to load my save game it crashes. I have to disable 3D to load the game and then enable 3D again when I have the game loaded. That's annoying!!

Now even when it's loaded the 3D doesn't seem to work properly, when I move the mouse it seems the shadows move with my view. It's really odd looking. The 3D looks like it would be good, but it's not working for me.

This is how I start it,

1. I run the tridef software and start skyrim from the tridef launcher.
2. When the game starts I have to enable 3D side by side on the monitors menu.
3. Load my saved game and it crashes to desktop with no errors. I can load the game fine if I disable 3D.

Is this the correct way of doing it?

Also can people who have this working check their tridef control panel and see what the settings are please? I have a nvidia 680gtx. In the control panel under the current 3D display it has

Manufacturer - Automatice detection
Model - AMD HD3D or side by side
version 6

If somebody with a Nvidia card could check these things out for me I would appreciate it :)

Or would it be better for me to try and get Nvidia 3D working on this monitor with one of the hacks that are around?

I am unfortenatly struggling with Tridef as well... It launches Assault squad men of war, but for some reason it splits screen into 2, turning on glasses doesnt help either... Btw turning on 3d, on monitor it self as I worked out, does not give 3d at all, it just makes image visible once your glasses are on, pretty much ghosts the image.... All in all it is all very complicated and I am seriously confused

Same here, SSG-M3150GB on sticker, SSG-3100GB on glasses themselves.

Hhmmm thanks. Seems weird to me that the box says one and the actual glasses another. My guess now is that they're leftovers just re-branded for sale with monitors. I'm going to purchase a pair somewhere and see what's going on with it.

@Youlads having trouble, TriDef launcher thing was acting all weird for me. I had to restart to get it right. When Battlefield launched through it I couldn't tab out of game and then when I started task manager I couldn't click on anything until after I closed the game. To fix it I just launched the game normally and turned on stereoscopic in the menu.

Anyone know what kind of 3D the on-board converter is? It kind of works ok but the 3D effect is nowhere as near as good as the stereoscopic but it's much easier to focus on and there's no input lag.

EDIT: I emailed Samsung UK since I bought it from the UK and they said:

Thank you for contacting Samsung and I have pleasure in providing the following assistance.

Sorry but your email has reached a UK call centre. Unfortunately, we can only support customers in the UK. Since this product was not purchased in the UK it is not a product that we would support and therefore do not have the information necessary to troubleshoot your query. There may be some software/hardware differences from region to region.

Please contact Samsung in your region, they will be better placed to assist you.

Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.

If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

Jim

I bought the monitor in the UK so I asked Samsung UK and they said that. Why can't he give me a list of compatible glasses just because this monitor is not available in my region? Even though I'm sure I saw it on an Irish etailer site somewhere! Do they not want me knowing what glasses are compatible are something?? Really bad CS IMO. Way too broad. Wouldn't be surprised if it was an auto-reply. Surely any CS rep can look up a list on a computer?
