Hi

My gpu has died (gtx 275) has been a great servant through her life and done all ive eber wanted.

Im after a replacement(s) asap as my phone is now my only internet as have no onboard graphics.

Im after something that will hold very high fps at 1080p

i play wolfenstein et and bf3. Im not intrested in how it looks il take the lowest settingsin bf3 and with et ive already running it lower than low to hold 125fps. i just want high fps that is stable so i can cap it and it not drop below.

My 275 did et like a walk in the park and around 60 ish in bf3 all on as low as i coild go but i would like higher in bf3.

Ive looked for reviews but they all run ultra quality.

What would be a good card(s) to get high fps

System is
i5 2500
Asus maximus z68
16gb ram
ssd
coolermaster 1000w gold psu
cosmos s case

I wont water cool. it has to be air. im not to bothered on noise as i wear a headset.

i looked at 560ti 2gb and the 448
Gtx 570 and hd 6970

But ive read aboit hd 7850/70 theb gtx 680's 7970/50

I just cant find the data im after. and now ive only got my phone to browse with

any help and il love you.

Sorry for any typos fingers are too big for touch screens.

Thanks in advance

I will try that gregster thanks but when i built my rig i wanted a new gpu but promissed my self whilt the 275 was working i didnt need one so its not now so i need one. Even if the 275then becomes a backup in my old rig

@pooley well it depends on what will get me highest fps per pound. if a £200 card will do good fps 120 would be ideal il take that but if it does say 100 and it would cosr me £500 for the extra 20 fps id take the cheeper one.
sorry im a demanding pain

wish reviews would test lowest settings as well

thanks

Well if you want bang for buck and don't mind overclocking the 7850 is the card to go for, the is a big thread on here about it.

I would like to say thank you to

gregster and pooley

after having a great day at the footy ( we got promoted

i decided to go for

a msi 7970 lightning
and a samsung S23A700D

will have them tuesday before 10am :-) (thanks ocuk)

now i do have a question

which drivers should i use. as i read about some leaked ones that are a lot better but cant find the post

sorry i have searched but im still limited to my phone

a very happy person.

Got another question

monitor is 120hz

But iv read it cant run 120hz off the dvi and will need an adapter thats around £70

Is this correct? If so would i just be better getting a gtx 680 as ive read these are better as i can amend my order

Full functionality of monitor will be had from DVI or DP. HDMI is the one that won't work 100%

Thanks its just that i read that id need a dual link dvi and that the 7970 lightning only has a single link. just want to run the monitor at 120hz off the card

I presumed it had dual link DVI?!

I'm afraid i'm not certain it'll work then.

Try posting in the monitors section :)

Yeah unfortunately MSI/AMD (whoever is responsible) have messed up here. Not putting a dual link socket on a top end card is sloppy.

You're going to need an adapter.

so far so good ive changed the card 3 times from origional order :s but happy with the card and monitor and arrived nice and early :) going to have a bit of a play then see what i can do with them :)
