Folks, roof boxes are removable

I'm not disputing the R8 looks good, I just cant see the point of it.
as Nath has pointed out, an RS6 would be a more viable alternative and a more likely candidate than an RS4 to someone with an R8 budget.
you guys cant seriously be telling me that you think that winging a roof box on the roof of a car like this looks good?
sure its removable but you would take it off for the photoshoot![]()

Surely you're going to die driving that up a mountain in he snow? Have to be very gentle on the accelerator!

The thing is, it might be 4WD but with tyres that wide and firm suspension will be rather hard to drive still.
It's got a tricky 4 wheel drive system so shouldn't be too bad.
I drove my DB9 up to Val d'isere a few weeks ago and survived - not a massive amount of snow on the roads mind you![]()

this brings me swiftly back to the question, why have an R8 and put a roof box on it?
surely just get a car that suits your requirements rather than making your high performance sports car look like it crashed into the outdoors section of halfords?
if i could drive an R8 to work everyday i would too. even if its not the most practical car in the world.
