Why is the volume limit on these things so ridiculously low?

It's so quiet it's ridiculous. With my Beats headphones it is fine but with Apple's headphones (use them at the gym/running etc) the volume is just far too quiet.

Apparently this is some EU regulation. We'll leave my thoughts about the EU to one side.

Is there any easy way of taking this ridiculous limit off?

Cheers

I have turned it off. The device is on full volume.

If this is EU regulation then how come the sound off my 2011 iPhone 4S is much louder?

I think to be honest it's down to the simple fact that the bundled Apple headphones are not poor but absolutely atrocious.

If it was due to EU regs then surely your beats would be just as quiet.

As such I think scott212 summed it up perfectly

Overall I'm really disappointed with it, especially after my first run. It's - like most Apple products - a fashion accessory which I fell for.

- Unacceptably quiet

- No controls on the unit to skip track and bundled headphones don't have a clipper which makes it **** for exercise whether that's running or weight lifting.

I guess I'm quite OCD with my music especially when exercising where I constantly skip tracks or fast forward to the 'drops' of bass music when weight lifting. This thing is definitely designed for a more passive music listener who just shoves on a playlist and gets on with things.

Any touch screen device is not ideal if you need to blindly change tracks, or control it with sweaty hands. That's why I use a shuffle at the gym and when out running. Perfect for the job.
