3450S - is this the perfect LAN gaming rig chip?

Just taking a look at this...

I currently run a G860 in my LAN rig - which is fine.. But I was always minded to stick an ivy quad in there when they came out as the TDP (65w) is the same as my current CPU...

Im on a H61 MITX (Giga) so no point getting a K edition and not interested in overclocking...

Would people here agree this is probably 3 years of good LAN gaming in there?

Id say so. My bet mate still games on a E8500 cpu. Does your H61 support the ivy's then?

I was assumed thats what these BIOS updates did...

22nm and 22nm e1 stepping? Good to know! I use a Intel DH67CF and i am hoping to ut the new 45w ivy i7 on it. But it doesn't say its supported yet.

BIOS version 0151 includes support for future 22nm processors.

I'd say you're good, they've just not updated the site yet.

Yeah the T chips are very nice low power consumption, worth the money if you're getting some good use out of it.

No, LAN is all about the biggest epeen so the biggest, loudest, hottest thing you can put in it is necessary

Was eyeing one of those up myself but then for another 20W you can get much more aggressive clocks, and then another 12W on top of that you get the maximum clocks.

The T series CPUs were great back when the flagship model was 95W or more.

On the i5 2500T i have the turbo mode is 3.3ghz. I game a little bit, EVE online mainly. It does not max the cpu. Maybe 20 - 40% load. But yeah, if gaming, maybe clocking it later on, then yes any of the new chips will do. I went for a T as the box is on all the time (my home server) Plus i was lucky to get the chip on a good sale price

On H61 though I cannot overclock and that max turbo on the T series of 3.7 looks very nice

The Xeon E3-1230 V2 has a 69W TDP and virtually the same performance as a Core i7 2600:

The IGP is disabled though so no Quick Sync.

For some reason the page now says that the product is unavailable - I'm assuming that it was the i7-3770T?

I can't say where obviously, but other retailers have this chip listed, although none have stock. Maybe OcUK have had news of delays and are taking it off pre-order until issues are resolved?

Yep noticed it elsewhere... Not desperate for its as my current chip is fine, once its in stock and the cash is there Im thinking grab it as its got to be good for 3+ years then.
