Samsung S23A700D Owners Information/Help

Hhmmm thanks. Seems weird to me that the box says one and the actual glasses another. My guess now is that they're leftovers just re-branded for sale with monitors. I'm going to purchase a pair somewhere and see what's going on with it.

@Youlads having trouble, TriDef launcher thing was acting all weird for me. I had to restart to get it right. When Battlefield launched through it I couldn't tab out of game and then when I started task manager I couldn't click on anything until after I closed the game. To fix it I just launched the game normally and turned on stereoscopic in the menu.

Anyone know what kind of 3D the on-board converter is? It kind of works ok but the 3D effect is nowhere as near as good as the stereoscopic but it's much easier to focus on and there's no input lag.

EDIT: I emailed Samsung UK since I bought it from the UK and they said:

Thank you for contacting Samsung and I have pleasure in providing the following assistance.

Sorry but your email has reached a UK call centre. Unfortunately, we can only support customers in the UK. Since this product was not purchased in the UK it is not a product that we would support and therefore do not have the information necessary to troubleshoot your query. There may be some software/hardware differences from region to region.

Please contact Samsung in your region, they will be better placed to assist you.

Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.

If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

Jim

I bought the monitor in the UK so I asked Samsung UK and they said that. Why can't he give me a list of compatible glasses just because this monitor is not available in my region? Even though I'm sure I saw it on an Irish etailer site somewhere! Do they not want me knowing what glasses are compatible are something?? Really bad CS IMO. Way too broad. Wouldn't be surprised if it was an auto-reply. Surely any CS rep can look up a list on a computer?

Can I just ask you then how you run your 3d games?? You use SyncMaster 3d and then launch game from there, your screen splits into 2 and you manually press buttons on the monitor to get into 3D>Side by side??

Wooow. No, I can use the on board 3D but when I turn it on 3D inside bf3 the Tri-Def takes over. I don't have to press anything to get the TriDef/Stereoscopic working but If I don't use that I use the buttons to activate the 2d->3d, still not sure bout the diff types.

How do you activate stereoscopic, and what do you mean by on board 3d, I only got monitor today lol :D Do you mean stereoscopic as tri def and on board as 2D>3D?

well when I start I game using tridef launcher the screen splits into two but never goes into 1 image, I have to go into the controls on the monitor and select side by side and then the glasses will turn on and I can see 3D. Same as what Lazader is saying.

But, it still crashes in skyrim all the time and a lot in other games as well. It's really annoying,

I wonder do tridef have to update their software to work with the Nvidia 680GTX?

You known what's weird though? The yellow sticker on the box says M3150GB but when I look on the glasses it just says 3100GB, no 'M'. Can you confirm yours are like this aswell?

Would they re brand 3100GB's as M3150GB to get rid of stock? I'd nearly buy a pair of normal 3100GB to see.

EDIT: Can you PM me where you bought yours please? I'm looking for another pair.

You are right both my glasses are SSG-3100GB according to the sticker on the inside right of them but on the inner left side they say they are SSG-M3150

+1

im really confused about this monitor between all the different monitor functions and the software

can someone please help us on this :)

This is either going to make me sound really stupid, or I'm just unlucky...

My S23A700D arrived today and I've set everything up. When I went to use the 3D glasses, I found that there's no battery in the box, (or in the glasses). According to the user manual for the glasses, it says that there should be a battery and cleaning cloth, but although there's a cloth for the monitor, there's not one for the glasses, so am I missing some kind of accessory pack?

I've checked the monitor box thoroughly and they're not in there. The glasses box was sealed with a white sticker, (although it can be opened the other end without damaging the sticker anyway.

Like some other posts, the yellow sticker says that they're SSG-M3150GB, but the code on the glasses themselves is SSG-3100GB. They look new because they've still got the removable covers on the screens.

I'm gutted that I can't try them, but the only coin batteries I've got are CR2032s and not CR2025s.

Did everyone else get a battery supplied with theirs?

I have spent few hours trying to figure out things with monitor... Looks like I got somewhere... I dont understand why this couldnt be posted in SAMSUNG Manual...

Basically you get quite few options... 2D==>3D option in monitor itself is a more basic version of 3D, but it converts everything texts,wallpapers,games.. etc... If you get wallpaper with tree and turn on 2D to 3D you will notice that the tree on desktop will gain depth, this can be used in games too, and doesnt eat a lot of GPU or CPU

If you want extra kick in the game you use tri-def, launch game through it, chances are that the game will start split screen, you go to monitor and select last option from 3D menu Side-By-Side, turn on your glasses and enjoy...

You can watch youtube 3d videos in same way too, get the "Split Screen version" get it in full screen, turn on 3d Side-By-Side on monitor and enjoy... I was not impressed by 3d effects at the start, but then I saw the gorgeous animation in Skyrims Spells menu and then went on youtube and saw this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foQNrtUsEjw

The screw driver and chainsaw extended around half meter from the screen and literally nearly touched my skull, I have to be honest, my heart did jump and I even had to move away.

I`d love to hear videos, places in games ect where 3d animation is amazing PM me or something if you dont mind...

Also people who struggle with touch-sensetive controls I`ve found that putting finger under them and pressing up a bit with top side of the finger does better job than just pressing front side.

P.S Do not forget to install driver and tri-def from the CD supplied... I tried following advice from other thread and download other software, in the end it screwed everything up probably cause I`ve done something wrong... But Having only installed what was on that CD I am fine.... probably...

I had panic attack with baterry at first too, but then I found it attached to back side of Cloth plastic package which came with glasses in the box.

Thanks Lazder, in that case, it is missing because the only thing in the glasses box are the glasses themselves, there wasn't any other package, cleaning cloth or battery in there. :(

I'll do a bit of research to see if CR2032s can be used because I've been reading that they're the same, just slightly thicker because they have a higher capacity / longer life.

Just turn on the screen and put in 3d, turn on glasses and see whether it will say on screen "Glasses connected" I dont think that would do any damage but never know.

As the CR2032s were the same rating, I gave one a try and although the cover doesn't click fully into place, it stays closed so it'll last long enough for me to get some CR2025s.

It's now working and I just quickly tried LFD2 and Skyrim to make sure the 3D was ok, which it is, so thanks again for your help. :)

It probably crashes since TriDef is designed around AMD hardware and the 3D methods of AMD and Nvidia are different. So if the game is tryin to output through Nvidia hardware it craps out since the 3D is different tech than what it was designed for.

They won't be changing it to work with Nvidia either, that's what 3d vision is for! Any games that do work you just got lucky on. This is my opinion but I think I'm fairly right, someone please correct if I'm wrong.

They're rebranding IMO to make more money, I have a couple of bids on SSG-3100GB glasses and they look identical to mine even though i have SSG-3100GB on the glasses and SSG-M3150GB on the box, f'in snakes!

I watched that video in all the "on-board" settings, by on board i mean the 2d-3d conversion and the side by side, top to bottom and frame sequential. Al of them just gave a double image except for the frame sequential but it didn't look good at all, IMO. I'd imagine since it says "3d vision" in the title it's made for Nvidia hardware and maybe that's why it looks good to you and **** to me.

To use TriDef in BF3 I don't have to use the launcher i just turn it on in-game but I think it's because BF3 has native support.

What does make a big difference is if you change the L->R setting int the menu. I think it inverts the depth so you may need to change that depending on how the game needs it to be output for proper depth perception.

EDIT: I'm not sure if my cloth with attached battery was in the main box or the glasses box but it was attached to the blue fold up cloth whatever that is for.

I've just looked up the glasses and found some pictures of what you get with them which showed the cloth and battery pack. My set definitely didn't come with these, but I've just found out how cheap it is for a pack of 12 x CR2025s, so I'll order some today. Thanks for checking. :)

No hassle, it's not uncommon for small things like that to be missing from a box here or there, was thinking about purchasing a box of batteries with another set of glasses lol.

Got mine yesterday, very happy with it, sleek and worked perfectly out of the box.

Anyone got the link to the VAT back deal? at work at the moment and was busy last night. With the deal + vat back it was an unbeatable price :D

Also extremely happy with OcUK service, thanks guys.

You must be doing it wrong because it looked freaking amazing on my screen. Full screen the youtube video, click the 3d icon on the video and change red/cyan option to side by side.

Then on your monitor OSD select side by side, this gives great 3d effects! The chainsaw was literally at my forehead I had to move out of the way!

Thank you!! **** me I was wrong, I never even thought of clicking on the 3d icon in the vid, was just playing around with monitor settings.

Does side-by-side give the best experience? i would imagine it's the best for depth perception because of the human eye being side by side so it works in unison?

BTW I absolutely **** myself in the "new 3d" video taht guy has. Click on link in top corner of video. Thought my eye was gone when he had the arrow
