Jon olssons new daily - Sexy Audi R8 content

I thought we as motor enthusiasts would love to own a car that turned heads. I was only just read Fox's American trip where he wrote up on the Mustang he had, and he seemed pleased and surprised it got attention from people...

The specific R8 is going to turn heads, and people will drop their jaws!

An RS6 unfortunately is an A6 with big wheels (to the unsuspecting eye) unless you are a car enthusiast...

So what you're saying is an RS6 would impress a car enthusiast, while the R8 will impress those who don't know any better? ;)

I read it that way aswell.

Unfortuantely people buy R8's to pose, as they are bling bling.

People buy RS6's to go fast not to pose, so they serve a purpose which car enthusiasts appreciate.

Buying an R8 for bling is gay, especially gay with a silly roof rack on top.

Surely the R8 is more fun to drive?

EDIT: The RS6 is actually in my 10 car garage, just in case anyone thinks I am against it...

How would a transit can fare on the snow? I'd be a bit concerned about the high centre of mavity on those mountain roads.

I wonder which of us can out-facetious the other.

We got ferried around the alps this winter in the below vehicle, you will find that the roads are actually well maintained, and pretty much every day we were transported to the bottom of the pleney (ski lift)

they are unstoppable, with winter tyres you can drive in all but the utterly worst conditions, I've gone past all sorts of luxury 4x4's (cayennes, q7's etc..) who got stuck whilst my faithful work transit just wouldn't get stuck

JO's car is a bit bling bling but it promotes his brand and definitely gets more PR than a transit van would :p

We have a telepath in the house :D:D

OcUK is rife with the assburgers.

Not heard that one before, om nom nom!

OcUK is full of opinionated geeks who love to argue. My arguing days are over now, don't have the time or effort :)

Maybe but in the snow?! I'm sure taking the skis off the roof box and trying no the drop them on the car etc would be very blagging.

I know I kinda stated the obvious.

My dad regularly goes skiing, he has a Ferrari 599. He wouldn't dream of putting a roof box on it because it is a laughably stupid idea. This is disregarding the fact the 599 is RWD.

He uses a suitable vehicle, an Audi Q7, with suitable suspension, tyre size, 4WD and comfortable load space. The car looks pretty good too. And I can gather that it is far less of an effor to retrieve a set of skis + equipment from the back of a Q7 than a dinky roof box perched on the top of an R8.

Lol, so much jealous hatred :p

His car, he can do what he wants. If he wants to go skiing in an R8 with a topbox then what's the problem? Some of you lot are too precious to put a topbox on your 2002 Ford Focus :p

there is no hate. I was simply pointing out that the R8 stands on its own as looking fantastic, it doesn't require gimmicks to look superb

Imagine how many skis and other miscellaneous items you could put in this all terrain monster

the roof box just sets it off imho
