***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I will try not to buy this phone! I am really happy with my CM9 SGS2!! :o

I'm very happy with the One X but I will end up getting this if it raises the bar significantly in most areas. Perhaps not right away though.

I'm excited all the same, there's that small chance that Samsung will really deliver an absolute monster...

A TouchWiz revamp will be nice too, if they can just tidy it up a bit (aesthetically) I think a lot of us would be happy to use it. And/or perhaps rename it, as it sounds like something out of a children's colouring book.

If Samsung release it with TW5 and AOSP style I'd think about buying it before it was rooted.

Need root for at least backup pro so I can have all my data when I move over. Hoping O2 has a nice deal thou since I'm sim only deals for last 1 year.

Yeah if O2 release it as £399 again PAYG then I will defo buy it! That was a bargin last year and I managed to get 2 of them :D

Wasn't it £450 when it first came down, and then was reduced to £399?

I plan to buy it from O2 as well unless it is significantly cheaper elsewhere because they will unlock it for free for me (that's if its locked in the first place).

Nah it was £399 and you had to buy £10 top up - Bought mine week of release.

My iPhone 4's contract is over in June. I am thinking of getting this phone to replace my ageing device, how much (roughly) does the handset cost on a £30-35 contract? (Going by the S2)

Erm we dont know! :-( it will depend on the contract obvsly but i would expect preorders as low as 2
5 pm with free phone like it was with one x

With the hype and increased awareness I hope the pricing does not go crazy. Still can't my head around how much more you have to pay for iPhone and blackberry when compared with the galaxy.

Am I right in saying the contracts offered when it was released were reasonable. I got stung by blackberry by taking the torch without doing proper research, it's been painful paying 40 quid a month for the last year knowing I could have got the galaxy for 25 if I had of been smarter.

i got mine for 20 :o

If that is true then we should see some pretty good battery life, on par with the one S or slightly better.........

or better ;) i mean its not like you own a one s or anything :D a lot depends on cpu/screen etc.. so it can be better not just slightly:cool:

Why does it matter if I own a one S?

The one s has the best battery life out of the box for android devices except the rzr obviously, so not think it is good to compare the 2?

Also do you not think a 4.8" 720P SAMOLED+ screen is going to drain a lot of power especially when compared to the one s screen?

Of course the processor will also play a big part in the battery life as we have seen with the XL (which uses the same CPU as the S) compared to the X but I can't see it making a huge amount of difference between the S and GS 3, like what some may think....... I reckon the GS 3 will get an additional 30-60 minutes (60 max) of on screen time compared to the one s at 40% brightness, so in total about 4hours 30-45minutes of on screen time with ease and pushing it about 5 hours of on screen time.

Of course I could be completely wrong but it is fun to guess! :p :D
