***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Dissapointments:

- A bit too big
- Back is pretty **** looking
- Potentially not much improvement in camera area
- Pentile screen
- No notification LED
- Blue - not sure about that

What's interesting is there are no lower end devices as well. Like a mid range which I guess will be the Galaxy Ace and such. HTC have won in that department. One S is a capable mid range.

TBF the only thing that holds the S back is the screen, still a great screen but would have been better if it had been SAMOLED + or 720P. It has the best processor and looks fantastic and great build quality with amazing battery life.

Out of interest did anyone who placed their order online get any sort of confirmation about the free tablet?

I got options for the free charger and free screen protector but it mentioned nothing about the tablet.

There's no black, which means if you don't like the white one (looks terrible IMO :p) you have to have blue which from early pictures looks a bit questionable...

Expandable storage and improved camera has me sold. I've played with the HTC One X and apart from the screen and "looks" I can see nothing on the One X that makes it better than the S III

Stand out features for me, stuff that I will actually use:

- Zero shutter lag (that's a given given my line of work :p)
- Built in HDR mode in the camera app as just shown in the features detail view after the presentation, I wonder if HDR will feature as an option in the video camera as well.
- Video Popup.
- Addition of GLONAS to GPS, I use my phone for all GPS work and I do a lot navigating :p
- 2100mAh battery!!!
- WiFi channel bonding (As some of you know, I do all my transfers over WiFi using ES File Explorer so getting 100+Mb connection rate on my network would be amazing.
- The 64GB model is mightily tantalizing, plus the SD card slot, both push me toward the S3 as opposed to the One X.
- The eye tracking will be used almost all the time, I do a lot of reading on my phone and the only browser that supports the option to keep the screen on is Boat Browser that I liked using but ICS browsers are faster so picture this:

Falling asleep while reading something in the browser using Boat = dead battery in the morning on my S2 :p

I would immediately uninstall the usual Samsung bloat though as soon as it's rooted.

I'm a bit bummed that Samsung didn't change the Gingerbread colours of the notification bar icons though but that's not a bother to me as I won't be sticking to stock ROMs anyway.

So it all boils down to price. The One X is £470 sim free, if the S3 is anywhere around that then awesome.

I want to see what the screen is like with text though so will await reviews over the next day or two.

Lower PPI than the nexus which is odd.

What's the PPI of the S3? I didn't see it anywhere.
