Recommend me a car

- The clutch is on its way out.
- Recently I've found the exhaust is "blowing" and has a hole in it.
- Recently the car has developed a tendency to make clunking noises when turning. I suspect it's either/combination of the CV joints/track rod ends/suspension. I'm going to get it on to axle stands to have a proper look.
- The oddometer has started to cut out randomly. Google suggests the speed sensor in the gear box needs replacing.

What makes you think buying a £1k car is going to stop this being an issue on whatever you get next?

You know what's wrong with the Focus so fix it.

You don't know what's wrong with the next £1000 banger you buy. The engine could explode and then you'd really be out of pocket.

+1, better the devil you know..

Take it to a good indipendant garage to get everything fixed / diagnosed

The budget would be the real kicker for keeping your current car. A grand isn't going to get you anything noticeably better and could easily come with as many issues as your current car.

Cruise can be retrofitted to pretty much any car either as an OEM solution or aftermarket, just depends on whether the benefit is worth the cost to you.

Personally after having it on my current car cruise is now an essential for me.

You'll potentially have all the same issues on a £1000 car or you could spend last than half that sorting the issues having have a car that you've known for 3+ years, not an unknown 1k motor.

I run a 23 year old car that I bought for £100 its cost me less in repairs maintenance and consumable than it would have done to have sold it when the clutch needed replacing and buying something that wasn't 'broke'

Echo what has already been said. I've never seen a £1000 car that hasn't needed work doing to it. It's a £1000 car for a reason.

I think my desire to change my car nearly got the better of me. It does make sense to keep my car and fix it.

Shall find out exactly how much it will cost.

1k budget, why would anyone recommend you a Type R? :p

I would just fix the car unless it is rusting. I hate rust and would get rid of any car if I found any.

You're not going to better it for £1k, the best you'll do is get something similar with a few niggles, or a total nightmare on wheels.
