Council elections today. Remember to vote.

Rather worrying the amount of people who couldn't get their head around the really very simple voting system. 1.5% of people in my ward couldn't figure out you needed to use numbers or that you had to number people 1, 2, 3... etc rather than 1, 1, 1.. etc. Oh dear.

They are all as bad as each other. Greedy **** the lot of them.

But whoever gets is in my area can't do a worse job that what's happening now.

Just the name puts me off - liberalism does society no favours, democracy is overrated.

Ironically they're not even particularly liberal... only in the American definition which means social democrat.

Liberalism is a fantastic force to better the human condition. Free trade brings peace.

I didn't manage to vote this year as I only just got back in the house :(

Does my **** in how much **** they put up on the streets. The one near the ESSO in Hamilton was just a bit too big imo for the SNP!

Labour - ****** it all up building schools we don't own etc
Tories- Trying to fix what labour did but still failing badly with all the **** ups.
SNP - Bored of all that chat so far

Probably best that I didn't vote really?

I used to vote for the Lib Dems. However, Nick Clegg sold his soul for a sniff of power and they abandoned all their principles. They betrayed their supporter base by voting in favour of increasing tuition fees (despite signing a pledge to vote against any increase) and voting in favour of increased privatisation in the NHS amongst other things. It's not as though they ignored their manifesto promises, they actively did the opposite of what their manifesto said. They deserve everything that's coming their way.

Lol, perhaps if you had read their manifesto, you would think differently. But it seems few lib dem voters actually did and had no idea what they were voting for.

Doesn't matter here, we always get Labour in Hamilton.

Very interesting that the SNP didn't take Glasgow - and it looks like Labour consolidated their position. Looking forward to seeing how Alex (we're namesakes, so I can address his as such) spins this.

Was there a local election for the Stafford constituency? I normally get a ballot paper in the post (registered as postal voter here), but I didn't get it for this one.

Seems like the ConDems (or ConDoms) took a whipping anyway.

Tbh the main thing I draw from the London mayoral elections is what utter BS the 'No to AV' campaign spouted - it seems that the AV process worked exactly as it was supposed to, without any massive expense, complication or misunderstanding and ended up with a Mayor who if not the outright winner was at least supported by the majority of the participating voters.

I guess their argument must have rested on the rest of the UK being more retarded than Londoners to the degree that the simplest of tasks would escape them :-/
