This weather is getting me down, perhaps it's rose tinted glasses but when I was younger I'm sure it used to be warmer, at the very least the summers felt longer, these last few summers have been completely carp, we wait all year for the chance that maybe we might get a few weeks of decent warm weather, we're into may already and it's 11c out side, I've had to have my heating on today.

I'm not sure about the validity of S.A.D but I do know I feel a lot better in a warm sunny climate and this current weather is making me feel down more each year, I spend most of the year dreaming of when the sun is going to arrive.

I thought that all the above is normal?

but i thought global warming was giving us warmer summers and colder winters. now your trying to tell me its a pack of lies! i cannot believe you :p

Warm sunny days here... most depressing.

I want more rain.

Warm sunny days? I'm in Newquay, it's 11c here, where are you?, your location says Cornwall?

Stop moaning as this is normal May Day bank holiday weather.

Perhaps it is normal but I'm tired of the weather in this country, it's cold and gloomy most of the year, it's depressing, I can't be the only one sick of it.

im in cornwall too, not to far from newquay and its nice and sunny here. aint stepped outside so cant comment of how cold it is, but dont look too cold.

I may be wrong but isn't it pretty rare for it to rain so much? Maybe not in mm, but in terms of the amount of days? I'm pretty sure it's rained every day for at least a month where I am.

We should be pretty used to it by now in all fairness.

Just take out a coat and an umbrella and you should be ok.

Since when has the weather stopped us from having fun?

Camborne.

Can't stand summer myself. Early mornings, bright light hurting my eyes, the sticky warmth making me sweaty and uncomfortable, the pollen! Of course the girls start dressing for it which is nice... :P

This happens every year. Uk summer does not happen this early.
March is always really nice but cold, then we get wet weather. You're still a few months early for summer

2012 has been a right off apart from 1 week of hot weather in March

We might get a week in July and September of really hot weather.

I guess you just have to take it on the chin.

If you really do have S.A.D go see the doctor about it and maybe get one of those sun lamps.

To be honest I'd rather live somewhere that has mild weather that can be gloomy at times than some place where you are under the constant threat of a hurricane/tornado or extreme flooding.

People feel sad when it rains and happier when it's sunny. This is well-known. It's called a pathetic fallacy in art: where the outdoor environment and things around you seem to complement and affect the way you feel inside. It's not unordinary to feel gloomy when the weather is cr*p. Don't hastily diagnose yourself with a disorder! Seems everyone nowadays is in a rush to medicalize everything. S.A.D. (what an acronym) should only be checked-out if it is seriously ruining your ability to have an ordinary, healthy and functioning life. That's the clinical difference between a depression and a bad mood: is it really affecting your day-to-day life? for e.g. are you missing work? If not, don't worry too much about it.
