Hi. I no i have a Q6600 CPU at the moment and my fan is a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 LP. My cpu fan has decided to keep stopping and starting and making a motor kind of noise when is spinning. The color of the CPU fan now is black and the color of the fan blades are also black. The new fan i have orded are white but with the same name Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 LP Low Profile. This fan comes with the cooler but will it be ok just to swap the fan instead of changing the cooler too?.

The cpu fan details show.

I'd swap the entire cooler if I were you as I believe white to be rev 2. However the fans are basically the same and I can swap mine (I also have a black fan left over from a broken freezer 7) easily if i wanted.

Thanks. Like i say at the moment i already have Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 LP. I no LP stands for LowProfile but on this other fan i orded it says for media centre but will it be ok for gaming has ive used this fan i have now for the last year and a bit with out overclocking as it is a lowprofile fan.

Also if i did change the whole cooler as well should i clean the cpu where the paste been left from the old cooler or just plonk it on and fit it?. Thanks.

If you've not overclocked it'll be fine for anything as the intel stock coolers are attrocious in comparison.

If you do replace it you need to remove all the paste with rubbing alcohol or even vodka will work, then reapply some more paste in a grain of rice or pea sized blob.
