Accidently clipped a concrete post while reverse parking today and its made a mess of my back bumper, thankfully I heard it hit before I reversed further and damaged another panel.

Do people think this'll be expensive to repair? I went to one place and the guy said straight up £300 without even looking at the car! Because apparently he "does the job properly"...
Been to the garage where I bought it and they have a body repair guy but he's not in until Wednesday and the salesman said he reckons it'll be about £100 but can't say for definite until it's been looked at by the repairer.

As it's only the bumper i'd be tempted to do it myself.

Probably around £200 if not less. Seems like quite a simple scratch.

A chips away type company would probably do it for less than £100. I had a similar scuff repaired by a mobile repairer for £75

id recommend trying shaw motors in hillsborough. i caught my sill on a carpark wall and he charged me around £240 for the sill to be mended so it was straight and then sprayed which was a lot cheaper then what other places in sheffield were quoting plus his work was decent

not got any after pics of the car but heres one of before. yours dont look that bad so would expect it to be under £100

300 quid man is ripping it unless he is buying you a new bumper too. 100 give or take say 30 would be a fair price, as your car is silver id be wanting the whole bumper done

Isn't the bumper plastic? Could find a whole new colour matched bumper for less than £300 probably. I'm speculating completely, I don't know what that car is and how much a bumper costs.

The car is a Fiesta ST, a new bumper will be much more than a smart repair.

I know people joke about "it'll T-Cut out", but in this case I'm pretty sure it will.

The scratches are really quite deep and rough, it's not just the paint that's come off but it's actually scratched the plastic :(

Ok just had a very quick go with some Wet and dry + T-Cut and I've managed to sand it down quite smooth (Got rained off), and cleaned out the scratch really well so it's much less visible than before. I think I may have a crack at it myself, already got the right Ford paint in my garage anyway :)

Firstly well done by missing the quarter panel by about 2mm!

If you want it absolutely perfect it'll need to be sprayed and lacquered. It should be possible to paint and blend it without doing the whole bumper. £150 - £200 would be fair price. £300 is pushing it.

A smart repair will only improve it - they are very rarely totally invisible.

Given it's a plastic there is really no harm in having a go yourself, but go to an art shop and get a couple of really fine paint brushes. The ones in the Ford kits are way too big and will daub paint all over. If you're OK wet sanding the lacquer bump off you can get as good results as smart repair. if it looks rubbish the bodyshop can just sand it off.
