Need help with my 2 x gtx 580 3gb

Guys I need some help before I pull my hair!...

The other I day brought myself another gtx 580 3gb evga brand to go with my palit gtx 580 3gb.

I install the new card placed the sli bridge on the both, fired on my pc and enabled sli on controle panel. Played BF3, black ops and crysis, saints row 3.. All played and very happy with increase of FPS in the games.

After few hours of playing and being very happy I came off and leaved my pc switched on like I do, I came back after hour or so to play some games when I switched my mointor on I had no display at all but my g15 was reading my gpu temps and it was 25'c and 30'c idle, so after trying to get a signal back I had to do a hard reset, loaded back into windows and everything seemed fine so I took no notice of it. Loaded up black ops and and it crashed with a black screen and my new graphic card fan shot on to 100% and I could not do anything apart from a hard rest and this is what I keep getting evertime I load up a game or 3d Mark 11 but for looking on the net it works fine.

Well this keeps happening so this is what I've done:

1, uninstalled drivers, used Driver sweeper and reinstalled driver still doing the same.

2, try one card on it's own and they both work fine.

3, disable the sli in the control panel and that still don't work.

4, swapped over pci-e connectors from the psi and that hasn't work.

5, formatted my hdd and reinstalled windows with fresh install of drivers and still hasn't work!..

What else can I try? Plz help guys ..

My spec of my pc;

i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz @1.35v
Gigabyte z68x-ud3p-b3
8gb 1600mhz xms3 ddr3
2 gtx 580 3gb
Corsair hx1000psu
Cpu, gtx580 (plait) are watercooled..

Use EVGA Prcision X & put the fans on a linear temp config.

Plugged the extra power cable into the motherboard for SLI to work properly? I had a nightmare of a time with 2x 3gb palit cards until I plugged that cable in, then I enjoyed months of solid performance.

Just downloaded that EVGA Prcision X and my cards are showing two different speeds,
Plait showing 783 - 1566 - 2010 MHz my evga is 772 - 1544 - 2004 MHz, I've changed them to the same so it is 785 - 1566 - 2015 MHz and saved them but still getting crashes on games with a black screen and my evga fan making a lot of noise likes its going to take off!!.

There is probably a molex or 6 pin connector on your motherboard, usually above GPU1, which gives the motherboard extra power to cope with SLI cards. I had to use it on my asrock Z68 extreme 4 gen 3 motherboard with 2x palit 3gb 580s on it or my 12v rail plummeted to 10v and crashed my system in games quickly.

The Gigabyte z68x-ud3p-b3 motherboard does not have that power connector.

Have you tried the new card on its own for a while to make sure it is 100% working correctly ?

Yes I have works fine..

The other thing I could do is update my bios?...

Any more ideas?.

Ok this starting to get to me now!....

I have updated my bios and still no luck!. I can loaded up into windows and look around on the net but as soon as i start up any game or benchmark software i get a black screen and my gtx 580 evga fan speeds up likes it is going to take off and then my screen goes black/plank and i have to do a hard reset!..

I have loaded up GPU-Z and i have twp different bois version can that make a different or not? but they are two different makes of card???

Have you tried swapping the cards around ? Sometimes that can help. Also try a complete back to factory settings on the motherboard BIOS. Just enter the correct memory settings, correct harddrives mode AHCI OR IDE etc that you installed windows at and the correct boot order as a test. Also set pcie as the 1st graphics on boot.
