I'm after some Studio Speakers for my Macbook Pro, could you recommend me some which are decent. I'm willing to spend a £100, I could possibly stretch to the £130 mark only if a suggested speaker set up is worth the price in that range.

Thanks.

What are the speakers going to be for? You're quite limited because of your budget. If the speakers are for music production would you consider headphones?

Studio monitors require either XLR or standard speaker wire... you'll need an external DAC with pre-amp functionality connected digitally to your Macbook Pro in order to hook them up properly and control the volume. The exception are ***** computer speakers peddling themselves as studio speakers.

I'm after some good speakers for clear music quality and good deep bass. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong type of speakers? I just want to listen to Music, not looking to develop anything. I'm after good quality sound/speakers which won't go pop after a couple of uses.

I presume you want a fairly tidy setup, i.e. no sub? I would recommend these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-116-CL&groupid=702&catid=22&subcat=719 . There are a few reviews about to give you some more info.

I am wanting a 'bookshelf' type of speaker. Are the Edifier or Microlabs Solo6/7 any good? Are the compatible with the MBP.

Anything with a 3.5mm stereo jack will be compatible. I've not came across those so I couldn't say. Those creative speakers I linked are not in the style of bookshelf speakers, but they are much bigger than they look... 150 x 116 x 320 (mm).

I have a pair of M-Audio AV40s. Can't complain. I think the MKII version of them is out now which doesn't have a bass boost switch.

If you don't mind going down the 2.1 route, Acoustic Energy Aego M's are incredible speakers and can be had for around your top budget.

I'll vouch for those Creatives, theyre not bad sounding for the size/money, and are quite generous with bass for their size :)
