Can i use an xbox360 harddrive in a PC ??

I got an old xbox 360 harddrive from my broken xbox.
Does anyone know if it can be used in a PC or is the harddrived locked ???

As if it will work i was hoping to put it in something like one these External HDD Cases..

What do you want to use the drive for?

A external back up drive or do you want the data off of it?

Just as an small USB external back up drive

Be good for using to transfer data between my PC's & laptop

I highly doubt it will have good transfer speeds compared to new Hard drives. is it the HDD from an old white xbox / elite or the newer slim ones?

It a 20GB from one the first released white xbox360 to come out

Am guessing the transfer speeds will still be faster what cheap USB memory sticks are..

i suppose you could open it up and try to connect it inside an existing computer. Im not sure if it would be sata/IDE or something completely different so just have a look.

I managed to get a Hard drive out of my old sky+ box which was an 160gb IDE that ive got in my PC at the moment. I can only suggest looking in it to find out.

It should be just a normal 2.5" 20GB laptop harddrive

Yes you can, it's a standard SATA drive inside. You'll need to format it though, obviously.

It really wouldn't be worth me selling it for what i get left after paying postage & VAT....
As I live in guernsey and anything i sell & send to england i got pay 20% VAT on (Including 20% VAT on the postge cost as well )
