I was wondering, apart from factory oc does DC2 non TOP version come with same cooling and a backplate? does someone have non TOP version of the card?

my main concern is does it have:
dual link dvi
cooling for mosfets
2.5 instead of 3 slot design
could not find any info anywhere.
OCuK pre-sales kindly checked DC2 and confirmed it comes with a back plate

thnx for reply
dc2 v dc2t is 3 slot vs 2.5 slot.
dual link is in discription
cooling however, doesnt say. see dc2t has that break down image, dc2 doesnt
which got me thinking its just a cooler slapped on top of the pcb unlike dc2t design

I do not know if the Asus HD7970-DC2T-3GD5 has the same problem.

But I had with two Asus HD7970-DC2T-3GD5 TOP cards both had to be RMA back to the supplies.

I observe strange artefacts small noise grain/dots. The noise was visible only for certain colours on the screen at resolution of 2560x1600. When I drop the resolution down to 1920x1200 these artefacts disappear.

When I connect using a display port cable to the monitor I see no artefacts at 2560x1600.

I have tried two different Dual link DVI cables same problem seen. I can confirm that the Dual link DVI output to my 30” Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP monitor is working fine, when I use my HD 5850 Card I see no problem using the monitor.

Someone else had the sample problem with a different 30" monitor (LG W3000H) and a different setup.

I contacted ASUS support direct and was suggested that it was a hardware problem and I should return the card.

These cards may be from a different batch and may not suffer the same problem that I had with the TOP model.

i guess ill sit out for 680 dc2, i am growing impacient and would be ready to buy 7970 at this point, but things like that put me off. i was considering msi lightning but its single dvi. Thanks for your input

I got one (HD7970-DC2T-3GD5) today and mine has that speckled artifact over dvi @ 2560 x 1600, im guessing a return is on the horizon

monitor which i got only allows 1920x1080 max, that means i wont be able to test for that artifact. Hows the card itself? any good? benchmarks?

The two Asus HD7970-DC2T-3GD5 TOP cards that I had did not O/C very well.

I found that one card could not be O/C past 1150 on the core and the other 1125, without major artefacts being seen when using Unigine Heaven DX11 3.0. Extra volts did not help and I found that both work best at low volts 1100mv.

Mine seems a dud, cant seem to alter voltages and its konks out at 945MHz, i cant decide if its stable a stock tbh. But on the positive side it is quiet and runs cool.

I liked the cooler as it was quiet and it did keep the card cool.

I would have kept the card but for the problem with the Dual link DVI output.

had narrowed my gfx upgrade down to the direct cuII and gigabyte windforce version but after reading this thread i think i will go gigabyte as while i am on one monitor now i plan to add at least one more in the next year or so. Shame the asus card looks fantastic and cools very well but thats not enough to take the chance of problems in the future :(.
