mine is not installed yet ;) but i'll keep you posted, because i have to see if my new rig works first, so i'm sending it into the shop soon, i'm not sure if it's wired up correctly/ or if the CPU is dead after i've lapped it.... i've messed around with it quite a lot! ... i'll get the experts to fix all the niggles first otherwise this will drive me crazy, plus i need them to transfer all my Steam files over from my old rig

OC seems to be about 1.3V...GPU 1280mhz.....Mem 1860mhz, but i doubt i'll need it as high as this.

i researched this card quite a lot, if it has bad coil whine you can cure it by painting the coils/ capacitors with gloss varnish, i used to do this for a living... you can easily varnish the whole card it doesn't halm it at all, just dont get it into the sockets etc or on the GPU.

you can spill it onto the rear face of the card, let it run around the rear area and then let it drain off, just dont use the card for a day, let it dry out totally, this will cure the whine.

i'm very impressed with the fan blades, they look even better than my Xigmateks, very shiny finish to them

http://theovalich.wordpress.com/200...w-and-how-to-fix-it-no-more-gtx280-squealing/

no it's all over the web, i've seen it on at least 5 forums.... mind you it is crazy to do because of the warranty, i used to work for Fisher instruments in Lymington, i used to solder ciruit boards, after doing so i used to varnish them... fact, it's dead easy and perfectly safe

no i'm installing the card myself this afternoon, but i want the shop to check it all out first, i see nothing wrong with this

yes, plus coil whine is to be expected anyway, and from what i've seen on youtube, it isn't exactly loud anyway.

finally, you can only replace a card with Coil Whine that's got it very bad, and this is quite rare, i think it's caused by the PSU or by too much OC

i must admit i'm very bad at leaving things alone, i geek around with the pc too much, i've removed the cooler about 40 times, i just cant seem to stop playing around with it

it has to be Acylic gloss, it's the same stuff as they use to paint that Chinese GTX 680 thing, you know, it's the graphics card i found ages ago and posted up here a few weeks ago. :D

i'm teasing you guys, you dont think for one minute that i'd paint my card do you, i had all of this planed yesterday when i knew my ban was up

i was going to pretend that i had brought two 690s in SLI, but i thought no; that might annoy members too much, so i thought... ``do you remember that Chinese graphics card that came with a load of paints, like something out of Blue Peter ``

``i researched this card quite a lot, if it has bad coil whine you can cure it by painting the coils/ capacitors with gloss varnish, i used to do this for a living... you can easily varnish the whole card it doesn't halm it at all, just dont get it into the sockets etc or on the GPU.

ha ha
it's a classic

no i'm teasing you.... but i have painted the roof of my PC Case you'll see it in a few days time, i painted it 10 times, i spent 50 quid on car paint..

i painted it:-

light grey
dark grey
yellow
brown
bark yellow
light yellow
gold
red
black
yellow

i brought Megahalems, then Thor's hammer, then Xigmatek Aegir, i have also brought about 30 fans and thrown the lot away.... am i teasing you or telling the truth ;)

no, about turning on the pc i'm deadly serious, i wouldn't joke about this, but i was joking about painting the card yes..

what you have to ask yourself is, is varnishing the pc board true, and does this actually kill coil Whine and have i done this before as a solderer years ago.

because on google, they use Nail polish dont they
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1689439

but no they should use this
http://www.directindustry.com/prod/master-bond/pcb-conformal-coating-varnishes-17407-396098.html

i worked at Fisher instuments in lymington....
http://fischer-material-analysis.co.uk/signin.aspx
the address is in the contact area.... Lymington, here i varnished pc boards about 15 years ago, i did it for about a year, two to three coats, the varnish is used to keep the damp out, and to stop the circuit board from short circuiting

as you say, i'm either teasing you or telling you the thuth, it's both, but i wouldn't do it myself due to the guarantee.

I think you are a complete fool. You tell us you will varnish the card and even how to do it, you also say you did this for a living. Then you say you was joking and now you say do it again?

I feel you should stop digging a hole...

yes i did this for a living... i mentioned this to tease you only because i knew how you'd react, but no i dont recommend you do this due to the guarantee, but if you do, it should work perfectly ok...... so yes i was joking about painting the card; in a way

it's you lot that are misinterpreting what i'm saying.... i have never lied once on this thread

What did you expect?

So many claims, so little evidence.

You also said something about the card being heavy?!

You're very contradicting

yes i said the card was heavy and i meant it, dont forget i've never seen one before, let alone picked one up, what is odd about this

i'll get you photos of my new rig next time i'm here, it'll be in a few days from now, it's about time i got the bloody thing on line anyway
