BMW 1M crash

Put a tree and a wall to the left and that is exactly what happened to me in my boxster. Bump in the road and a drain/ lifting off or putting the power down can easily end up in tears. :(

I hope he wasn't on the phone before he crashed.

Looks simply like a mix of rain/wet roads and too much acceleration.

Something very similar happened to me years ago in my M3 - I was driving in town along a straight dual carriageway (30-40mph) and came to a very slight righthand bend. There was light rain but grip had been good up to that point. The road ahead was clear, when gentlly accelerating the back suddenly stepped out and swung 180 degress before the grip came back and the car righted itself. That was a brown trouser moment for both me, my gf and the chap in the lane next to me who was looking at my headlights at one point.

180 means it was facing the wrong way doesn't it? Or am I reading it wrong?

I was going to say, isn't it amusing how these things get exagerated when the story is re-told. I mean actually recovering a 180 degree spin?! Unless he came to a halt and then set off again I that takes epic skills!

Cheapo tyres, lower quality road surface than we have in the UK, rain, plus about another hundred possibilities /shrug

Why would a brand new 1M (or any new BMW for that matter) have cheapo tyres on?

If there was a bump then his foot was resting on the throttle as it pootled along, hit bump and foot went down. Obviously he had DSC turned off otherwise the car would not have spun.

Similar thing happened to me in my 335i, wrote it off into a wall after turning off an island and putting the power down.

Sometimes you just lose all grip and are just along for the ride.
