Emre is a bit of nobber. I remember he abused Yobo at Goodison a while back, but you can't just assault someone because they said some mean things to you.

Well, when I say 'I remember' I meant I remember he was accused. He was also accused on two other separate occasions while playing for Newcastle. Nice guy!

Reminds of Souness tackle, infact was probably worse.

Souness' looked close to leg snapping, Zokora's was "merely" a kick in the unmentionables. One was potentially career ending and the other gave a bit of short term pain.

Tackling like that shouldn't be condoned but I find it hard to have much sympathy for Emre in this situation.

Yes because if someone commits a crime, its automatically less serious for someone else to commit a crime against them. Nothing less than assault, also, balls aren't magically unhurtable, he could have done serious damage with that kick.

The problem is, the league I assume ignored the racism as it says Zakora's club brought a civil suit against them which resulted in the ban. In which case, if the ref doesn't punish Zakora's assault, surely they can do the same and bring a suit against Zakora for it? Racism/words would have been pretty hard to prove probably, something tells me the kick will be a tad harder to pretend never happened.

I can understand someone being upset at Emre, but Zakora is bang out of line, end of the day someone said some words to him, probably to try to wind him up not actually hurt him, and his retaliation is to go out and physically injure someone, absolutely different level and completely inexcusable.

Souness looked in a similar region to the OPs one, granted it was a fair amount more vicious, can't help but cringe watching it.

While I disagree with him kicking him like that, and do think he should get a ban for dangerous play/violent conduct... I do however have no sympathy what so ever for Emre.

Haha, I am in too minds really, he should probably have been sent off but it is understandable why he did it in some ways, funny that he is already acknowledging to the ref the second he has done it. It could have been/still be really nasty though but I struggle to find sympathy.

TBH I'd rather be in the same room as someone who is a racist than someone who is violent.

Playing football shouldn't be a license to commit battery, he could have easily ruptured a testicle.

So you don't think it was the racism that provoked the violence? It's still not right, but it's not quite as clear as you're making it out to be.

Internet forums never fail to bring them out..?

What a load of crock, did he endanger his life with a headbutt or kick to the head? Try to end his career by snapping his leg or knee? Threaten him with a weapon? Threaten his family? Run him over? Pull a gun on him?

No he kicked him in the balls right in front of the ref and ready to fully accept the consequences. Good on him I say.

Honestly some people need to get a grip on the real world. If I was to go outside right now and really insult someone I'd expect to at least get a smack in the gob, we all would and it would be fully deserved, no?
