we got tiles in the kitchen floor which have black dirt inbetween the tiles on the grout also the design of the tiles was not a good choice as dirt has also gathered on the design.

thinking of changing the tiles but when we give them a good scrub they take AGES to get clean so we want to try something stronger.

what kind of chemical product can we use to get rid of this dirt?

May just have to regrout them. Or scrape a bit off and then use the grout replenish stuff from B&Q (little tube that adds a thing layer back on top).

Household ammonia. Just make sure you wear gloves and open every window and door in the house or it will smell like the inside of a septic tank.

Steam cleaners? Do they actually clean anything at all? I tried them once, and took it back to argos after a week. I think they should be banned under the trade descriptions act. They cleaned nothing at all.

I did ours with a hard brush, vim and jif (proper stuff with bits in). Oh, and CRAPLOADS of elbow grease.

The astonish I recommended above is clean, it doesn't smell and won't bleach or poison you... at at worst it'll cost you a quid and not help.

It's sort of like a sandpaper paste... it'll not scratch unless you apply a huge amount of pressure, but it'll cut through dirt/grease/grime. Nothing else works like it that I've seen.

I was thinking the same thing. My mum bought a steam cleaner once, it did sweet FA except make the surfaces slightly damp and warm.

One of the biggest anticlimaxes of my life after watching them being able to clean absolutely everything on those shopping channels.

I saw one the other day that does windows. Cleans and dries them at the same time. Looked absolutely amazing.

Bet it doesn't work.
