Camping Newbies - Sky TV?

Aren't you also going to need a generator to run a sky box, tv and satallite? Any peace and quiet would be long gone!

12v car battery and upconverter?

How long will the battery last? If your going to the expense and hassle of buying and carrying all this TV and SKY kit then surely you are going to want to watch it for a reasonable period of time over the weekend? you might need to raid a submarine base for some old batteries.

Jeepers!!

Looks like I've really upset some of you.

Let me paint a picture for you; If I wanted a caravan I would have got a caravan, and what % of caravans have a TV (damn they even put aerials on caravans as standard). Look at caravan/camping sites - electrical hookups and TV points. Must be loads of other 'dumb' people like me going to these sites, unless their just catering for me.

Caravan vs tent - well a caravan is just like a small home in a different location (hotel anyone?). Tenting is proper outdoors, and when you have walked further than you have ever done before it is nice to sometimes just come back and cool down in front of some sport on TV. Likewise when the otherhalf (some of you may need to lookup 'relationship') is taking yonks having shower/drying/straightening hair it is also nice just to catch up with the news on TV for an hour before setting off out for tea etc.

Believe me we don't go away to watch TV as some of you suggest - hell I bet 90% of you would take your PC so you can get that well needed pistol upgrade before your nocturnal friend does.

Quink - I don't think you would insert anything to anyone tbh. Sorry, that's just my opinion.

If a camp site is full of caravans its not proper camping, neither are those sites that have cafes and showers.

Camping is a field in the middle of no where. Where people go to enjoy the outdoors and camping for real, not pretend to enjoy camping by taking all the home comforst and defeating the purpose of camping.

Wow. Yeah, proper outdoors, with TV, Sky, hair straighteners, the lot. It really sounds like you're both having the proper camping experience there dude!
If my other half, in this, what do you call it, relationship?(never heard of it myself) wanted to straighten her hair before hitting a country pub or maybe just chilling out around a fire with some beers, I'd tell her to stop being so ridiculous.

Slingbox connected to your Sky box at home. 3G iPad or some other Slingbox compatible device. Job done.

What I don't get is you come in here for help and then start crying at people's opinions and then offend people with your post jabbering on about relationships and how people take their PC on holiday. *golf clap*

People here are right, camping isn't about Sky TV or the Internet or any of that. It's you, perhaps your loved ones, a field, a campfire and some cold beers. I actively avoid campsites with electric hooks ups and all that jazz. Keeps me away from annoying loud people like you! :p

You want to take sky... with you... on a camping/caravan holiday?

Just stay home and save the money

LordSplodge, couldnt agree more, my favourite camp site in the lakes is a farmers field, it has some very basic toilets thats it. He comes round in a morning on his quad with his dog and collects the £3 per adult for the night. So piecefull plenty of space between tents, if someone rocked up and started making any more noise than some laughter they get thrown off.

On the relationship front, i wouldnt want one withsomeone so obsesed about there apearence they couldnt go a few days without tarting them selves up. Nothing wrong with washing your hair in a stream.

The answer to this is easy, sod the TV and after a hard days walking find a good ole country pub..(Which also often comes with TV fitted)

With TV and a roaring fire....real ales and the end of a good day..

I love how you lot always know best - presume presume presume.

Did I ever say we just go to camp sites with electric? Does it depend on if we have kiddies with us and want the outdoors without the 'no bogs and showers' so they can wash properly after getting filthy.

Some of you should take your own advice - get out more and stop worrying about what other people are doing. Everyone likes different things, learn to accept that, live with it, nobody cares about keyboard warriors.

Whats the problem here? Let the guy enjoy his own holiday as he deems fit. It sounds like everyone thinks they are Bear Grylls or something just because they've put up a tent in a farmer's field. Wow, you're so manly and at one with nature.
