as topic really ........ the specs of my mobo say it can take 16gb or ram... but doing soem searching i cant find ANY that goes above 4gb

i'm i blind or is there nothing i can use ? just upgrading my cpu on this mobo so wanted to up my ram from 4 gb

any help would be appreciated

What exactly are you trying to do?

Are you trying to work out some way of getting 16GB while still using your existing RAM?

The motherboard has 4 RAM slots so the simplest option is to buy 4x4GB DIMMs which you can do for £80-£90.

Long day....

It's a DDR2 motherboard :o

You can get 4GB DIMMs of DDR2 but they're expensive.

I suggest that if you're sticking with rest of your system you "make do" with 8GB and get another 2x2GB to match what you have now.

I assume you are running a 64 bit OS?

yeah its 64 bit .. cant remember what ram i have in it off the top of my head tbh ( as in make ) but seems liek i'm stuck with 8 gb max .

16gb for ddr2 seems non exsistent

wil all teh sticks have to match ? as in make

can i mix ram makes ?

You'll have to match speed, timings and voltage.

Using 4 DIMMs may also affect any overclock you have (though it seems you're running at stock speed).

You may achieve a lower overclock or you may need to adjust the settings to achieve the same overclock.

well i just purchased :- AMD Phenom II X4 965 - 3.4 Ghz AM3 Black Edition CPU

was lookign to clock the cpu soon after i get it fitted

Options:

1) Stick with 8GB, it's enough for most people

2) Search for some 4GB DIMMs of DDR2

3) Get a motherboard compatible with the AMD Phenom II X4 965 which supports DDR3

well option 1 will cost me about £60 ... and with the set-up i will have will last me about 2 years ...

dont really see teh point of gettign new mobo and whoel new set of ram .. as it will probably last just about as long before i'll ned to replace it all anyway

think i'll add to my kingston .. as just noticed ocuk stil stock teh ram i bought from them ... thanks for your advice :)

quick side question on this .....

i'm updatign the cpu to AMD Phenom II X4 965 - 3.4 Ghz AM3 Black Edition CPU will i need to update teh mobo bios or is it a case of swap out dual core and put quad in ?

also any suggestions for a cpu fan ? probably best if i change stock one .. even tho it should cope
