Catalyst 12.4 problems

My 7870 does not seem to like the 12.4 drivers one bit, every time I try to install them it just ends up on the 12.3 version. Yup, tried sweeping it all clean to no avail.

More of a heads up than anything (I couldn't see another topic about it).

I updated to 12.4 last week, and ever since, I was having issues, where all screens would suddenly go blank (showing no signal) and the only way to get the back (that I found) was to restart.

I was worried it might have been my gfx card being unstable, so I returned to stock settings, but still the same. I then decided to install the old drivers again, which seems to have fixed the issue.

As I said, more of a heads up for anyone else who is having the same issues, it could be worth trying.

I have a 6950, with a 2500k on W7.

The monitor stand-by bug was introduced in 12.4. Even rolling back to previous versions does not fix it.

I have turned off monitor standby for now until someone works out the fix.

Go into power settings in control panel, and change so PC don't enter sleep or switch off display. Thats what I always use.

Yeah thanks for that. Glad there's forums like this so I don't think it's just my PC playing up.
Will stop monitor and also Pc from going into sleep in settings until there is a fix.

One more thing when I'm at desktop or browsing Internet if I have my new Samsung monitor set to 120hz I get an occasional flicker/screen tear a bit like when you haven't enabled vsync in some games.
Am I alone on this one or is this also known bug in 12.4??

No you're not alone the same thing happens to me, the whole screen flickers black and white for a second as if it's going to crash but nothing actually happens.

I don't have any power saving features active on my PC, other than turning my HDDs (to make it quieter), and it was happening whilst I was using my PC anyway...

12.3 = awful 12.4 are ok.. But seriously they need to sit down for an hour and fix the screen flicker. If nvidia didnt lock away the 110 i would have went with them.. But when it finally comes out i know where this 7970 is going! The Bin.

I have an issue where the card is not recognising my AVR (via HDMI) if i turn it off then on.
I only have to unplug the cable then plug it in again for it to work though so only a minor annoyance.
Using DVI for the monitor and that is okay.

Do any of you have msi afterburner installed by any chance? I've had problems last night so today, booted in safe mode, uninstalled afterburner and problems are gone.

Had a few intermittent issues with my 7970 not waking up from sleep (no output to monitor) but I remember having the same or similar problem with a 5870 so I guess it's just not AMD/ATI's strong point. It's a bit annoying that you have to turn off power saving to reduce the risk of a crash though.

@mrbreckles-Yes I have it installed but its caused problems since cap 12.1 and I`m loathe to turn it off because i use AB monitoring tool in logitech keyboardI.Ive also had to uninstall CCC because a mix up with Afterburner once cut the fans completely.Ive pretty much made up my mind to go back to the green team because I am sick to death of driver problems.

I was having a similar dilemma but went with ati again anyway. If you can get around using afterburner i really would get rid of it.
