Hey all

The time has come to get something a bit bigger than my Leon, so I'm currently looking at Audi A4's with a budget of around 5-6k - not too botherered about an estate or saloon - needs to be a diesel as most of my driving is motorway

Any A4 drivers about who can give me some advice ?

Why are you in need of something bigger? I can't imagine the A4 being more spacious in the cabin. The boot will only be marginally larger if you get the saloon...

I had one on a P reg and it served me well.

Since my VW got trashed by some miscreant, I am looking at an A4 estate which a lad at work is selling. Read a buyers guide but I always found the A4 a good car.

The A4 isn't very big inside as already stated - I would go and sit in one just to check it's the size you're expecting. I must admit the latest one I've been in the back of is a B7 so they may well have grown substantially now but even the estate didn't have a particularly big boot.

They were a pretty small car in the back until the B8 model came about, which is quite surprising. Stick to the Leon, being a hatch it will be a much more practical compared to a A4 saloon.

To be honest I assumed the A4 would be more spacious - with a baby and carting half the contents of the house around with him on trips to relatives every month, the Leon, despite being a good car, needs to be bigger, - I'd certainly have expected the boot on an A4 saloon to be bigger than my Leon.

I've always liked the A4, the tdi engine is a slight step down from the 150 version in my Leon but I can live with that.

From the sound of things I definately need to have a look at one to compare.

the Leon, despite being a good car, needs to be bigger,

Then an A4 is not for you. The cabin will not be more spacious, and the boot will be only slightly larger, but the benefit of a hatchback is that it's easier to get stuff into over a saloon...

If you desire loads of space, and room, the mondeo might be a better shout. The boot is humongous! And you still have the benefit of a hatchback opening...
