<3 MX5s

When I have some spare cash, I will buy one another one as a weekend run around.

Then undoubtedly proceed to turbo charging it and making it even more fun and spending a fortune... :o

That

Is

Awesome!!!!!

Thanks, I absolutely love it.

Coming from an EP3 CTR I was worried that the drop in power would be an issue, but it really isn't. Having fun in my Civic involved driving at licence losing speeds, in the 5 you are so much more connected and involved that doing silly speeds just isn't required (not that it cant push on though).

I paid £3800 for it last December, which is quite a bit but it came well spec'd:

1998 1.8 RS - Imported in 2010
63,000 miles
146 bhp
6 Speed gearbox
Torsen lsd
Bilstein B14 height adjustable coilovers
Ultralite G-Spec wheels (5.6kg) - sold the 16" Rota Grid Drifts it came with and fitted these myself
Yokohama AD08 tyres - fitted these myself
Fast road set up by AK Automotive - done since I bought it
Carbon kevlar Recaro seats out of a mk1 MX5 RS-LTD
Mk2.5 mx5 1.8 sport big brake upgrade
Maruha braided brake lines
Custom S/S exhaust
Strut brace
Carbing rear cage
Ducktail rear spoiler
Factory side skirts
Factory front lip spoiler
Smoothed front bumper
Offset front numberplate
Alpine double din stereo

Compared to my mates mk1 1.8 it is noticeably quicker, so much so that he is getting a 1.8 vvt engine from a mk2.5 sport fitted when we get back from the Nurbugring. Looking forward to seeing how they compare when he gets it done :)

I was reading the Evo article with the MX5 yesterday and I was surprised they criticised the lack of feel in the steering which MUST be down to set up as the steering feel on my wife's MX5 is lovely, plenty of feel and tells you what it's doing. However, this got LOTS better after the geo was done at Centre mavity, the single biggest improvement and I would say it is too sharp and needs taking back a tad as it's over sensitive.

Really like that white mk2.

Another MX-5 owner checking in.

Built 1.9 with Supertech pistons, forged rods, ARP head & main studs, ACL race big end and main bearings, 99 head etc.

Standalone ECU, FM2 manifold, BEGI downpipe, 3" exhaust, Water injection, Bride bucket, Wilwood 4 pots and smiles all round!

On the lookout for a GT3071R although I may end up with a GT2871R. Either way 400bhp + 940kg is a recipe for fun :)

Evo seem to be on a bit of a downer towards anything thats not M-badged or RenaultSport at the moment... I've not had any problems with my steering feel either although I would like to get the alignment properly tweaked (and the lowering kit ideally)

now all i need is a second car so i can SC this one :D

Heres my ickle hairdresser wagon. 1.8 uk car.Mostly cosmetic mods on it, I love it to bits, but I hardly drive it, so it may get sold this summer. But its such a cheap car to run, insurance is £200 (classic limited mileage policy) and bits a stupidly cheap. Its so much fun at slow speeds. If I keep it, it will be getting a MK2 VVT engine and 6 speed box.

You've improved it visually no-end in my opinion.

Not only visually, the ride and the handling were shocking! I bought it to drive and take over to the Nurburgring so being 'stanced' was never an option. Sold the Rotas and replaced them with lightweight 15s wrapped in Yokohama AD08s (awesome tyres!!) and took it along to AK Automotive to get a fast road set up. These guys really know there stuff, and Dan who set mine up races a 350bhp mk1 mx5 so I knew it was in good hands :)

My car currently handles like **** due to the large wheels, silly height and silly camber.

But I don't care, because I don't often feel the need to drive fast anywhere, and every time i walk to the car it makes me smile, every time i walk away from the car, I can't help but look back and smile.

I love it :)
