M5 has to go :-(

So, a new job will be seeing my annual mileage increase from 5,000 to the better part of 20,000 meaning the M5 will need to be gone in the short term to make way for something a little more diesel shaped.

Which is no bad thing, as it was never really the car I thought I wanted. It's far too fast for public roads and not particularly comfortable to drive sedately.

Budget wise, I don't really want to spend more than I can get for the M5 which I estimate to be around the mid 20's, do advise if you think i'm being ambious here.

As for what I want? I don't have the foggiest! I've always wanted a convertible, but I fear diesel & convertible is a bad combination, someone correct me if i'm wrong?

I basically want something that is fun, looks good and does good mpgzz.

I've considered anything from a Jag XF to a Focus, so as you can see, I'm all over the place.

I need help!

The sound will be forgotten about for the majority of the miles that you do, as it's unlikely most will be with the roof down.

Go for it if its what you want :)

Could an option be a fun convertible and diesel workhorse? With the cash you'll have to spend i'm sure you could absorb the extra cost of running 2 cars over x years quite easily by spending a little less on the purchase(s)

With that budget you'd get a nice comfortable MK4 Mondeo 2 litre diesel to eat up the motorway miles and a Z4 for the weekends.

oooooh oh no you di'int!

(he doesnt have the auto supra anymore) on the road.

but no, convertible dagdag, definately the worst combination on the road, bar being run over whilst on a pedal cycle

Oooooooo. :o
