That's probably because the only group of people who oppose gay marriage seem to be religious ones and their justifications for their views are always based on what their magic book says.

Funnily enough I was just thinking much the same thing.

Please can everyone keep it civil and vaguely on topic. We've had numerous debates about religion in general and the Catholic Church which tend to go absolutely nowhere.

So do people think with Obama saying this, other leaders may follow? The Australian prime minister has said she is aware of it and at the upcoming vote will be voting against it.

Considering that the USA in the majority has more fundamental Christian states Obama is going to loose the election.

If Americans want to base their voting decision solely on the issue of gay marriage and not economic, foreign or homeland policy then they're don't deserve a good president.

They don't but some people feel more passionate about some policies. The controversial ones always get media interest.

According to the bible doing pretty much anything is a sin … and *not* doing most of those is also a sin.

Heck God herself is a sinner. Exodus 20:5 says she is a jealous god, while jealousy is a sin. Which would mean God can't get in heaven!

I like it when they ask why some people say that gay marriage is a threat to their marriage and they say it's not like the police are going to come knocking on their door forcing heterosexuals couples to get divorced because they're not homosexual.

Nah, typical "upper tier" lobby defence these days would be - if you are pro gay marriage on grounds of equality and all, does that mean you support equality of all consensual sexual orientations/behaviors/identities/etc/etc.

Tom and Dick are loving, homosexual couple and would like to marry and be a regular nuclear family with adopted kids. Why not?
