Phwoar! Living life on the edge over here! :p

Going to buy a new washing machine, I'm looking for a recommendation...I want an 11kg one (to wash duvets, plus sister needs to wash horse rugs)

Any recommendations of brands/models? etc...

Can't afford the best, but don't want to buy cheap and buy twice kinda thing either :)

Thanks for any/all help :)

AEG and Siemens are another couple of decent brands. I'm looking for a new machine after the drum spindle bent/bearing gave up on my Hotpoint yesterday. The drum is sealed and the bearings aren't accessible, so you have no choice but to buy an entire new drum assembly at £95+ shipping.

Yeah, don't buy Hotpoint.

You're going to get people who say buy x because they have never had a problem with it. Then you're going to get people who say buy z because they have never had a problem with it. Then the people who buy x will say not to buy z because it's ****.

It's impossible. Just buy a known brand, with a warranty with the features you require for a price you can afford and hope for the best. If it breaks, get it fixed under warranty. I have a Whirlpool which is totally fine. I'm certainly not going to spend hundreds more for a Bosch because people perceive it as better.

I've been married for 7 years. In that time we've had 2 Hotpoints damage themselves beyond economic repair. I'm starting to think it's worth spending on something decent for a change. I bought my last Hotpoint knowing it would likely be a heap of junk, and it didn't disappoint.

I wish I had a separate utility room in my house, then I'd just buy an ugly, cheap old Miele and let it run forever in the dark, like some freak-like Quasimodo of the washing machine world. But as I have to have it in the kitchen, it needs to look 'nice'/curvy/modern/silvery (according to the wife).

I repair them for a living, I can confidently say what brands are reliable.

Our Hoover has lasted 6 years and it gets used twice a day, the last Indesit lasted 4 years, the cheapo one in my rental lasted 6 months, we bought a Bosch condensing dryer and am very pleased with the quality and await the Hoover to give out then buy a Bosch
