I don't think those numbers really mean anything anyway, as I would assume most console piracy is via a supplier selling copies on to others.

Community isn't the right term, but 'destroying' developers or something along those lines would be the correct term as it would produce a reduction in sales.

Was thinking about it, but most of the people who proclaim pc gaming piracy is the cause of all gaming problems are posting in this forum.

its the same story of films being pirated....

on one news report the moan that they are loosing money and then on another they report the avengers broke the record at the box office.

^ Indeed.....these poor companies and artists making Billions and moaning that the Media industry is being hurt because of people pirating.

Its not about money so much, as it is about principle.....people stealing from you and thats why they are putting measures in place.

The new Avengers film has taken over $700 Million in the box office so far.....you cant tell me they are suffering...

Rather depends on how much it's cost all up really.

In any case, just because someone may be making a profit from something doesn't mean it's right to rip their work off.

Yeah I agree, thats why I said its about principle...stealing is wrong etc.

But the media/propaganda they put out is that its hurting the industry financially is not as true as they say.

You just have to watch cribs on MTV or look at the financial reports of games companies to know that isnt the case.

People who work in at the top of these industries are some of the weathiest people in the world.

As for films, if it didn't cost £20 for 2 to go see a 90 min film, I would go to the cinema more often.

For games though, support the developers! Behind the sales monkeys is a dedicated team who are most of the time, (excluding your usual CoD/fifa ect ect copy and paste tripe) really excited and enthused by making a good game.

Console gaming piracy is never mentioned by developers, why is that? I've been a member of that website the OP posted for years now and seriously the amount of hits new 360 games get is crazy, whereas PC games don't get as much.

Because the console market isnt a open platform like the PC. The last I heard anything about piracy and conoles was when Nintendo tried to block flashcarts for the DS years back. Before then it was back in the Dreamcast days.

The console version is due for release on Tuesday. The PC version is not due until the 29th. That's the only reason its being pirated on console but not PC at the moment.

Indeed....its more difficult for the average gamer to hack and pirate a console, in comparison to a PC game.

But it does happen, with plenty of people with hacked Xbox's, PS3's and Nintendo Wii's running pirated games.

That doesn't stop the games from being pirated. One of my friends got a wii for his boy, and stuck hundreds of games on a HDD for him to play. Known several people with modded xboxes that run pirated discs.
