President Obama Endorses Gay Marriage

I was directly referencing another quote, and putting my view on it. the gentlemen suggested that homosexuality occurs in nature (which it does, although in some cases it is dominance not homosexuality), and I was counter arguing that as other animals kill deviant animals in some cases.. that is natural to. I'm not confusing anything.. you are skewing what I wrote to try and make a point of some kind.

the pro-gay marriage people aren't the ones making the unnatural point

anti: being gay is unnatural!!
pro: sup loads animals do it
anti: being natural isnt always good!!

Strong.

I've already had this argument with him steve-h. The original discussion was whether homsexuality was 'natural' or not and was nothing to do with whether all things natural are 'good' or not.

Simple solution is that the Church should not allow gay marriages so that they are happy and don't break their God given laws. If the state want to interfere then gays should be allowed to have a civil/state marriage so that the rest of the non fundamental, I want to get married in a Church but don't follow Christianity or have any value for all it's laws are happy.

The problem arises when you try and assimilate someone's beliefs, laws, values and faith. If someone believes in God and creationism then let them be.

You can't have things both ways unless you try breaking the Church or create splinter groups.

Love how we talk about them as if they're a different race of people lol.

I agree, everyone should follow one rule. Alas, this isnt the case and probably never will be!

Would you had said the same if he'd said "blame the Christians"?.

Yep but we all know Bhavv's agenda when anything remotely religious or anything to do with race pops up. He never fails to disappoint when he brings muslims into the thread:p.

Meh i may not like the notion of same sex marriages but whose to tell others what they can and cant do??. Its not like its hurting me or making any difference to my life.

Each to their own and such like is what i say.

Sorry I didn't mean to discriminate against them like they have the plague.

If Gay couples want to get married which the Church doesn't allow then there are always other options if they want to contractually bind their marriage.

If the Southern states in America are prominently strong in their Christian faith then I cannot see them voting for Obama. In fact out of resentment they will vote for someone else.

Can we please stop saying 'allow gay marriage', and properly address it as 'stop discriminating'? Marriage is not an exclusive Christian institution.

It used to be but isn't anymore :p

I can picture it, " I know pronounce you husband and husband" lol

Do you believe the Churches marriage covenant be changed for gay people?

Why would it need to be? The church have absolutely nothing to do with the Civil Marriage Ceremony, which iirc can not contain anything religious anyway.

As many people have said, no one is forcing the church to perform marriages for gay couples, marriage is not purely a religious institution.

I read this some time ago and found it quite amusing.

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all like many of the principles on which this great country was founded; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of marriages like Britney Spears’ would be destroyed.

6) The only valid marriages are those which produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without both a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy or longer life spans.

For those who do not follow a religion then doesn't need to be backed by a religious institution. But the problem is easily solved with civil marriages as you've said.
