Don't worry you're not actually missing much, I got about 70% of the way through 5 years or so back.

The car mechanics are laughable, far more arcadey than NFS, basically it doesn't matter what speed you are going you corner pretty much the same, so braking isn't primarily used to slow down when approaching a corner, it is just to get the backend out and alter the angle you are facing.
 
No just had to join the group, it just appeared in my library (in case you are looking in the inventory or something)

Nope, looked in my library and it's not there ah well...

Just cheap for them to say it's free if you join before X date, when it clearly isn't for everyone going by the comments :p

EDIT, after posting on the comments over at there group, it was added a few minutes after. weird.
