Thinking Of Water Cooling

cooling wise, they won't be too different (pumps). But noise wise the D5 is silent, the bay res made a hum which I personally found unbearable

+1 ;)

I had the XSPC Dual Bay res and the DDC pump didn't shut up humming it was like one of them air pumps in a fish tank. So i pulled it out and put in a bitspower Res 150mm and D5. now all i can hear is my GT1850's which is basically silent

u'd prolly be better off with a D5 combo with ek top and a ek tube res, as cleec says it runs silent and u'll get better performace as well and if u set up your loop right u shouldn't use that much more tubing. plus reading on the forums u get a lot of indifferent opinions about the res/pump combos lifespan some saying as low as 6 months before the pump goes. u spending a lot of money as well so wouldn't be a shame to take a short cut on quality of the pump etc , pay the xtra and be rewarded we a better overall performance.

ok so thinking Alphacool Laing D5 Vario Pump 655 - NO TOP and Alphacool HF D5 TOP - Clear Plexi G1/4, for the pump. not sure on res, but I do like the bay one more than the others. so this Phobya 5,25" Single Bay Reservoir Black or XSPC Single 5.25” Bay Reservoir - Multi Fascia [BR525DALU].

I also noticed this one XSPC Acrylic Dual 5.25" Reservoir for Laing D5, which you add the pump to so getting rid of the inbuild one, for a good D5 pump? if I'm reading it right?

Would it be worth me doing a dual loop system or not really? one for CPU one for the 2 GPU's

Thanks again guys

1) The OcUK combo will be cheaper

2) Yes, you buy the res and the D5 with NO TOP, and you house the D5 in the res

3) no, not at all

1) ok added a OCUK one to basket- OcUK Tech Lab - D5 Vario Pump & Alphacool Clear HF D5 Top Value Combo

2) what you think about this and maybe adding in a Alphacool Laing D5 Vario Pump 655 - NO TOP which looks like a very good pump?

3) ok just checking

Personal choice really.

have a look at some reviews as I'm not sure if there are any dosasvatages to the res like too much noise.

Well had a quick look, could not find any good reviews to be honest most where online stores and customers who bought it says stuff, not real review sites.

Welll cannot make up my mind to go for

1x OcUK Tech Lab - D5 Vario Pump & Alphacool Clear HF D5 Top Value Combo
1x Phobya 5,25" Single Bay Reservoir Black

Or

XSPC Acrylic Dual 5.25" Reservoir for Laing D5
Alphacool Laing D5 Vario Pump 655
If they do fit together that is.

One for the fact I seen people using them, second one is just the fact it might be tidyer in the case and hopefully give same proformance, will have to think about it.

I think I might go for the one we know should be silent, might not be worth taking a chance on the other one, for the small difference there would be, it was mainly for looks and ease of putting together. I cannot see any problems with either but will go for one you said would be silent, or near silent.

1x OcUK Tech Lab - D5 Vario Pump & Alphacool Clear HF D5 Top Value Combo
1x Phobya 5,25" Single Bay Reservoir Black

Would it be worht me adding a connection for drainning the system when I first build it or is that not really that hard to do anyway?

Still cannot find any good reviews on the XSPC Acrylic Dual 5.25" Reservoir for Laing D5 so if you have one, could you let me know what you think of it and how noisy it might be?

It all depends on opinion. Some say draining is difficult, I personally think its easy.

I'd add a t line at te bottom of your loop.

another option u could go for is the external option phobya 1080, for around 200 quid or so the 1080 stand and fans sounds to me like a good price and prolly give better cooling ofc theres pros and cons with it but would give overall better cooling over and 360/240 rads and only real con is needing to make some custom cables to connect the fans up etc

That is a beast, might be nice but maybe not for a first try. but I like it

yer is a beast , if i'd known about it on my 1st build which I did recently I would have bought it even though my rig not a powerful as yours will be basicly its a no nonsense build as and future changes are internally which wouldn't affect the rad/res etc.

its on my future to get list
