HI guys,

I'm buying a new HDD for my 4 year old macbook pro as the original one is now faulty.

My budget is £60 and it has to be 2.5" and obviously internal.

Does anyone know what one I should buy? Does it matter if I get 5400rpm or 7200rpm?

Thanks,

Gustov

For that price bracket I'd recommend a Western Digital Scorpio Black 500gb. It's 7200rpm with 16mb cache which will speed up your pro big time. I had one before I got my momentous XT and it was a nice quiet drive

Get whatever you can afford. As for speed of the drive, that's down to whether you're after longer battery life or not.

Personally, if I was going to upgrade the HDD in my MacBook Pro I would go with this. I honestly don't use very much space on my MacBook at all as all my important files I store on a NAS.

Going by what the OP has stated, this is the only sensible post here.

Why people are suggesting 60GB SSDs as well as stating what they would pick (how do you know whether your usage is similar to the OP's?) I will never know.
