Just curious if anyone has had their teeth whitened? Why did you do it and how much did it cost?

I had zoom whitening as part of cosmetic dentistry in Hungary. It was agony! Can't remember how much it was for that part alone.

Day White ACP 38%
Around £25 iirc
Works great as apparently it's the same stuff a dentist would use (even has a 'professional dentist use only' warning on the packaging)

Is it any good or one of those fads?
Is it a once only treatment or like Armour Hammer where you need to keep brushing your teeth for a year to get one shade lighter?
Is it available from the shops?

Not a fad. It's very good stuff due to its strength (most teeth whitening kits contain around 9% carbamide peroxide I think).

You put a blob per tooth in a mouth tray and leave it for 30 minutes (or 15 minutes twice a day). Should last for around 2 weeks depending on the size of the tubes you decide to buy. This is more than enough for white teeth.

The one bad thing is that it can make your teeth very sensitive for a while after you've used it, but that shouldn't last long. You can use a remineralisation gel after to limit the sensitivity.

Edit: Available online only, I think. I got mine from here: http://www.crestwhitestripsnow.co.uk/bleaching-gels-and-syringes/day-white.html and the mouth tray from eBay.

No, I simply brush my teeth thoroughly and regularly and visit the dentist every 6 months for a check up, scale and polish if required.

Simon Cowel and ilk with stupidly bright white teeth (teeth aren't naturally bright white) started this stupid craze. Guess we will be all desperate for black toiler paper next.

I use the crest white stripes a couple of times a week, from ebay.

My teeth are about as white as they can be.

Anyone paying hundreds for something similar is a fool.

I broke my front teeth in half, and where they have repaired it there is a yellow line.

I've never tried anything but I'd be up for giving it a go... may try some of these suggestions.

Same for me, smashed my front top 2 and now the rebuilt part hasn't coloured the same as the original parts of teeth that's left. So looking at whitening to make them match
