Hey all need to nip out in a second so I'll set y'all a tough challenge.

I can build it
Preferably Intel
Tower only (no os, monitor, peripherals etc)
Middleish games (C&C Company of heroes, possibly Diablo)
Assume monitor is =<1080p

Lets see what you got ;)

I am clueless about AMD performance, is this a good mid range chip? How does it compare to the Intel side at this price bracket.

Bare in mind the games will probably not be hugely graphically taxing, perhaps more so on the CPU.

search for my llano review, included some vids of its gaming ability.

For a budjet build I think its worth considering the AMD APU processor. It's pretty capable at playing med-low games. Everyday processing may not be as good as a i3 as such, but due to its nice graphics it's good so you dont have to pay for a GPU. Personally I think stulids AMD build is very nice.

If you wish for a intel build I would recommend a i3. It should be enough to power your needs:)

ever thought of getting some parts second hand?

that's what i did when i got my pc (sig) as i had very limited budget (£250).

got the GPU/RAM/HDD 2nd hand which saved some cash for other bits.

If I don't shop at OCUK I can save about £35 quid and get a better PSU :)

Basically it is What stulid suggested.

A6-3670K - £74
500GB Cav Green - £54
*competitor* Powerstation Gaming 500W Modular. - £42
8GB 1600MHz Corsair Vengance LP
MSI A75MA-P35 - £42
BitFenix Beta - £31

I'm assuming I can canibalise a DVD drive from it :P

I wouldn't trust a unbranded PSU.
