hi im thinking of selling my 2 gtx 580 1.5mb gainward phantoms and going single card 690.
i only use 1920 x 1080 moniter dont plan to change it.

any views on this please, money is not an issue.

thanks.

Well yes the GTX 690 will outperform 2 580s but at your resolution are you really going to care if you get 100 fps from the 690 or 80 fps from your 580s in games. The 580s are hardly old or lacking in performance in current games.

Unless of course you just want a nicer quality card which will also draw less power than your 580s. At your resolution in a single monitor setup I just would't bother.

That much power for 1080p is getting crazy. What game needs that much? A single GTX 680 should be fine and your GTX 580s should already be more than enough.

Get some SSDs for all your games or something.

i have a single 560ti @ 1080 and i dont think i need anymore i run all games on max perfectly fine

You're wasting your money, save up for a better screen with a resolution 2560 x 1600/1440 and keep the 2 cards you have, you will enjoy using the pc more than getting a 690 and not noticing any difference at that resolution you use currently, the only way you will see the gain is via benchmarks. You decide... I know where my money would go.. New screen or if you don't have a nice gaming laptop get that instead or some better peripherals for your pc, like new sound setup, case, keyboard, mouse or even a large screen TV to game on if you don't currently have one... Things that make the pc more fun to use. You have a very highend setup there so will only be throwing money away changing the graphics.

thaks for all your comments maybe a higher resolution is a better option ,on all my games i max out out with my current set without any problems so the real benefit for me to see would be a higher resolution screen.

If money's not an issue you should be investing in a higher resolution screen. I would.

You'd ideally need a new screens and a 690 (although i'd personally get 680 SLI) to get full benefit of both.

More VRAM will be needed, especially considering the OP apparently has only 1.5 mb VRAM :p
