I bought a brand new Audi TT in late decemeber 2011. Its a 2.0T which has only covered 5000 miles. The Turbo has gone on it, and the local dealership has repaired free of charge.

I want to reject the car as i am not happy with the car now its failed. The dealer still has the car.

Where do i stand towards getting my money back or another car.

Hi there

From what I know you can only reject a car if its constantly in the garage needing repair more or less from the point you purchased it. Seems you've had 6 months trouble free motoring, if they are fixing it why would you want to reject the car?

You dont have the right to reject the car due to 1 single failed component, 5,000 miles t 6 months or otherwise.

If the turbo fails, then gasket blows, then exhaust falls off and suspension snaps then you might have a case for a replacement.

Basically it takes a lot of fault on a product for you to reject it. I presume once the turbo is fixed the car is otherwise perfect? Then what is your problem?

Yeah, 1 fault in that time doesn't make it a lemon. This is why you have the warranty, and it would need repeat faults in one or more areas to build a strong enough case to get your money back, or a new car.

The whole reason you spend an enormous pile of cash on a brand new car is so that if it goes wrong, its fixed for free.

Its gone wrong. Its being fixed for free. You presumably have the use of another brand new Audi whilst its being fixed.

It'll come back, fixed, and its unlikely you will have a problem with the Turbo again. Result all round really?

Thanks for all your quick reply's, i thought i could try it on with the local dealership. But i kind of knew at the back of my mind this wasn't the case! But worth a try i guess!

I'm 22 nearly 23.. finished uni with great grades and ive got a good job which i work very hard in!

Well done doing well on the job front but use that clever brain of yours and think about it, if they give you a new replacement.

1 - your old car is now 5k miles on the clock and secondhand, which they will have to fix and sell at secondhand price, random guess, £5k loss?
2 - you get a new car and which I am sure you want the warranty to start from day 1 again.

How is that fair?

Or would you rather them replace it with another secondhand car? Which will probably have in a different colour/spec and unknown history.

Or would you just fix your car for free and be on your way?

It's not like trying a new flavour of crisps though? Hardly a 'try my luck' situation, car breaks and is repaired FOC so i'll demand a refund or replacement

It needs to fail 3 times before you can officially reject the car. These need to happen within a 6 month period IIRC.

I researched it a little when I went through my issues with the Cupra. The repairs have to be done by the same garage also.

Thanks again for all the reply's, like you have all said i don't have to pay for the repair and i been driving around in another new Audi which i cant complain about.
