Hi guys,

Im trying to see if there is any modern remakes of the stories of the members of avengers.

Either comics or graphic novels that depict the stories from the beginning, I'm not necessarily after one book that covers them all but would like to read someones take on the story.

Something similar to the new Spiderman: Season One

Does that make any sense at all?

well you have the heroic age series that was made a few years back but after the civil war series it was pretty lackluster.
tbh I would just read the civil war stuff, everyone's in it and its a decent read. The end of the movie touches on this aswell and it will probably be apart of the sequel

Bare in mind aswell that in the modern comic world Spiderman was a key player in the Avengers , something the movie for obvious reasons could not even mention. It creates a very different dynamic to what the movie portrays (if your a Graphic Novel virgin that is)

Civil War is awesomesauce, though isn't the movie heavily based on the Ultimates series? There's even a joke where a black Nick Fury says Samuel L Jackson should play him in a movie.

There's nothing recent for Iron Man or Hulk and they keep retconning Thor's origins. In fact I'm not aware of any recent origin stories for the heroes featured in The Avengers movie. There are a few around (Wolverine etc) if you're willing to consider other Avengers members who werent in the movies.

Yep that Nick Fury was basically SLJ before he even took the role, I've only read Ultimate's fairly recently so I dont know if they knew something we didn't back then....

Personally though I really disliked The Ultimates, didn't enjoy the new alternate universe having grown up with the original universe. Iron man 3 is apparently set loosely on Extremis so that could be a good read prior to the films opening next year, again I didn't enjoy it but hey ho

right then, where do i start with civil war?

Honestly, unless you're pretty well up on Marvel up to that point I'd pass. It's very long, incredibly reliant on current continuity and is basically Iron Man vs Captain America, so isn't huge on Avengers as such.

Ultimates is a great read (although it is an alternate take on the Avengers).

Secret Wars 1 and 2 (by Jim Shooter) have both just been reprinted, and very prominently feature the Avengers.

Infinity Gauntlet could well be worth a read to, especially with Thanos appearing at the end of the movie.

1. Ultimates 1 and 2 (Mark Millar)

skip Jeph Loeb's god awful run. jump to

2. Ultimates vs The Avengers (Mark Millar)

then

3. The Ultimates (Jonathan Hickman) the current running story
