Birmingham Nightlife

Last time I went over Brum (Eons ago) Wobble was where it's at, Awesome club, Happy Days.

I've never understood why people recomend/actually go to Broad Street in Brum it is a horrible dive full of crappy chain pubs and drunken idiots. I'd basically say go anywhere but there.

Broadstreet isn't that bad, just make sure you stay down the one end really (nearer the city centre) as the top end is a bit dodgy!

Brindley Place is a good place to start, all bar one / pitcher and piano for a few drinks. Think about the Arcadium too, which is alright. You have the usual trashy clubs on broadstreet, like Reflex and Walkabout etc.

Cheers guys, looking like i might get dragged into Gatecrasher. The dress code is fairly relaxed by the looks of things.

The hotel im staying at is now the worrying thing looks a complete dive! 3 boys sharing a room with the sink in the main bedroom LOL - Etap Centre hotel! :(

I stayed at the Etap and went to Gatecrasher. The showers we're just in the rooms with a see-through glass door with a hole in. No lock of course. If its the same one as ours there's a double bed with some bunkbed thing on top. It was a good night though!

Dunno.. but go to the canal area's and the cocktail area's if it is anything like it used to be. (early 2000's). Generally speaking the main drag is OK (Especially some of the clubs in the alleys), but watch out for idiots on the corners trying to sell or steal.

Yep and just up the canal you can either go to the Mailbox or straight onto Broadstreet, It's all nice and compact enough to walk everywhere.

Is broad street where the long road of bars and clubs are. We stayed at the mailmason, walked down Gas St, then took a left where all the clubs are.

do you work on the door then?.. still haven't found anywhere as good as snobs
It's one of the doors I work on semi regularly
Is Custard Factory still open? That was always an... interesting night..
And that's another one, although after closing down for around a year it's nothing compared to how it used to be and is just the old "Space 2" warehouse now called "Gibb street warehouse"
I used to love working the big nights there :D

Used to frequent XL's (rock night) & the Academy, also odd night at gatecrasher back some years back - gatecrasher used to have an indie night (but can't recall if they still do, preferable to chav dance music)

Associating dance with chavs? I thought the stereotype was with bling bling gangsta rap and r&b.

But yeah, 'Crasher will be the best bet. It has a couple of secondary rooms too if it's too heavy in the main room. Some great lighting displays in there though, with walls covered in LEDs as pixels.

Someone mentioned Eddie's No.8 on page 1. Opposite was an old dance club called DNA. I had a soft spot for it as it was the only club I knew at the time that had a multicoloured laser. It folded 10 years ago and I've found it very hard to find multicoloured lasers ever since. Any idea where else in Birmingham that there is a club that has one? Preferably dance music.

i used to work behind the bar, many many years ago! usually the round bar in the small room... if it's still like that!

It is, along with the retro typewriter tills.

Stopped going to Snob years ago, got too old for the place. For the Wednesday nights anyway.

Yeah, there's a couple of cut through's from off the canal to get to Broadstreet, or you just take the canal bridge steps to get up to Broadstreet level - you know when you're on it as it's carnage once it's hit 11pm onwards.
