Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

You could be right there I'm not expecting too much from it either. What's been said about the current matchmaking doesn't entirely describe what's going on and the netcode is still bad, but searching for the ping to one player has to be better provided right person in the party or lobby is being ping matched.

Rad, got a title update - 1.4 I think it was, played all of 4 minutes and quit out. Still insta deaths and put into games of 100ms. Back to Black Ops then.

The whole player base needs to have the patch to truly test it.

I still think it's something to do with elite and the theatre that's causing problems. There's too much going on in the background that's eating up bandwith. I'd love them to turn them off for a weekend or something to see if it changes anything.

New patch, absolutely bobbins. I really want to finish 10th prestige (towards the end of 9th) but it's getting shocking now and unenjoyable. :/

No I'm not sure they could actually do that, but the will to reduce lag compensation to the level of previous titles isn't there either.

New patch and maps/spec ops are available now, though I had to do a network test on the dashboard to actually make the patch appear even though it's apparently been up for 2 hours, so if it's not working for some of you just try a network test.

I'd like to test the party matchmaking speed, but there have been some positive reports from the PS3 in regions that have had it for 24hrs+ so it might be best to skip it tonight.

The PS3 SitRep Pro vs Dead Silence bug has made it into the patch I don't know what it does to enemy players yet, but it wipes out Dead Silence to yourself and you just hear what you would have yourself running SitRep Pro only.

Elite is stat tracking which is updated after each match and Theater is stored localy (on your harddrive). Both make 0 difference to bandwidth etc.

Sitrep Pro vs Dead silence actually works, I could track him around corners and I had to double and triple check just to make sure he was using dead silence because it was quite clear, not as loud as regular enemy foot steps but you can hear them easily.

Wow the upside of this SitRep Pro change works so well. It will be even better when they cut out the static.

Tried to do a clip, but it just isn't having it a bit like my connection today.

The maps and gametypes aren't too bad, it's just the CoD community that ruins them IMO.

I think 3 out of 4 of my 1v1 matches the enemy ended up quiting after I killed them <5 times and when they don't quit they sit in a corner and don't move just waiting for you to walk by. I've not tried the 2v2 yet so I'll wait for that before completely writing them off.

I don't believe that at all.
Elite has to be taking info from the game as it's in progress to get all the info for the stats. The stats have to come from somewhere. Chances are it's from the host.
Same as theatre has be taking info from somewhere as well as it'll need to communicate info between players. Otherwise the only player you'd be able to watch would be yourself.

In the theater the only player you can watch is (see i can use italics too :p) yourself lol all the others are third person the game is saved to your harddrive there is 0 bandwidth used it's basically a pvr of the game you played. The other players are just signal markers from the information that was sent to you during the match anyway otherwise it would be just you playing.....................

Elite updates stats from the game after it was played (as far as I am aware as dashboarding losses the stats) with simple information which is then expanded by elite all it needs is x/y/z coordinates and a representative of who it was that got killed or killed the enemy and by what means. A match could be sent in a few lines of code a few kilobytes if that even and only one player would have to send the info and if it did track during playtime it would hardly make you lag.

All cods have been stat tracked since MW how do you think the leaderboards are populated??

Exactly. The info is getting sent to you. So it will be getting sent between every other player in the match as well.

I know it may not be much info but that, again,is happening for every player in the game. So a that small amount of code is then multiplied by 12.

So if you add the info needed for theatre & the info for elite and then muliply it all by 12 it adds up to quite a lot more than what was being used in MW2.

No it doesn't, it will be a very small amount that won't have the slighest bit of noticeable difference.

Stat tracking over the internet has been in since Halo 2 with Bungie.net and Theater mode has been in since Halo 3 and it had no effect on lag or hit detection and still doesn't to this day. And this was when we all had <256Kb upload speeds all the way back to 2004-2007.

Maps are typical MW3 quality but they're not bad for 2v2, but the morons who play the mode are the biggest cry babies you will ever come across.

Nope you only communicate with the host the information is play information or gametime information it's the game itself that you are playing, this is P2P matchmaking which has always been like this no extra information is required kinda like recording Eastenders (which I know you love) you are recording the information sent to you by the host.

You are only ever connected to the host so how does "everyone" uploading code effect you in anyway the lag compensation is worked out by the host before that game starts and this is the only thing effecting you, again Theater has 0 effect on you and the stats tracking bandwidth is laughable at that.

Again nope none of that should have any effect on you whatsoever.
