As per title. My Enermax Liberty 620w just went 'POP!' bang.. whatever you want to call it. Large flash through the side of the psu.. and a lovely burning smell.

I need to order a replacement, in the hope that it hasn't killed my rig :(

I have no idea what to order to replace it. Can I have some help please fellow forumites?

Would the OCZ ZX Series 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply be a good replacement?

Corsair 650d (might make a difference with the bottom mount??)

i5 2500K with Antec Kuhler 620
Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 gen 3
1 ssd
1 dvd-rw
3 or 4 HDDs
AMD 6950 flashed to 6970.

Those are the major things I think :p

how old is the psu ?

the reason im asking is because im using the same psu & this is my 2nd one,
bought the 1st one around 2006 & it lasted 2 years before going pop & enermax replaced it
with another one, i've since been using that one for 3 1/2 yrs without a problem.

i read elsewhere that enermax had problems with the liberty due to dodgy caps.

I has to be six years old atleast Arai. Hell, I picked it up from OcUKs old shop back when the x1900 cards were around!

Bit too cheap for me Stoner, would rather pay a bit more for the OCZ Quality, Need to order in the new few minutes to get it delivered for tommorow!

Leaning towards the OCZ 850w atm. Should be all I need for a while including any Crossfire upgrades.

funny enough, i was going to take the liberty out of my old system & use that im my new build & i was going to replace it with an older psu but the older psu does'nt have a 6 pin socket for my old trusty x1950, so the builds on hold for a few days until i can get a molex to a 6 pin adaptor ;)

Needs to be modular Really hyperst. That's the one thing that really annoys me when cables are floating around the case!

Might spend the extra £20 as you say.

The TX850 V2 looked great, then I realised it wasn't modular :(

Any plans on going Crossfire in the future? If so any of these would be fine.

xfx 850w xxx edition modular '80 plus silver' power supply

corsair enthusiast series tx850m high performance 850w '80 plus bronze' modular power supply

or the ocz zs 850w you spec'd. all are very good power supplies with plenty of headroom for overclocking and adding a second 6950(70) in the future.

my choice would be the xfx. here are some reviews.

Some reviews show it having the older green fan rather than the newer black one though.

Must be modular guys. I appreciate all the replies :)

The Enermax is modular, Can't stand the look of having those untidy used cables stuck in the case :p

Get the 1250w OCZ, it looks a beast and should be worry free for years on upgrade's wise at least.

If I had the cash I would be getting it.:)

Done. Thankyou for the help all.

I'm **** at making my mind up, but it had to be modular.

Mum even walked past as I said I couldn't decide between the 850w and 1250w.. she said 'The amount of time you spend on it! Get the bigger one' :p

hehe:), Got to say it looks an absolute bargain against any other make that do a 1250w
