How long til Red Bull go out of business?

ES? Euroshopper? Wassat?

It's just a discount brand effectively which sells multiple types of snacks/confectionaries/non-perishable goods, it's quite similar to most supermarkets own brands but as far as I'm aware it isn't linked to any particular shop in the UK. I think it's more common on the continent though as I've seen it in multiple different stores but rarely over here - admittedly I've not been looking for it though.

Not quite true though, is it?

Case point: Red Bull Cola and Red Bull Mobile (Austria and Germany), neither of which have been a resounding success. Nor was their attempt in the 'shots' market either.

Can't remember where I read it (some consumer marketing magazine), but sales of 'big cans' (Monster, Relentless, Rockstar etc.) have made massive gains worldwide in the past 18 months (talking 1000% or so), while Red Bull's 250ml cans have seen a decline.

I know Red Bull do 350ml and 473ml cans, but when these are almost twice as much as the branded/promoted equivalents, you've got to wonder how long consumers are going to keep paying over the odds for Red Bull.

I think they've priced themselves too high and consumers will begin to seek out cheaper/larger alternatives, if they haven't already begun to do so, that is.

Thank you.

I was getting sick of people treating me with disdain for having the temerity to even ask the question. Some of the other responses here make me feel like I've walked into a Mosque and asked about the possibility Muhammad not being a prophet.

I honestly never realized the 'love' for Red Bull was so strong.

To back up my reasoning for asking the question, before Red Bull came out which was recently (relative to most of well known brands like Coke) that 'flavour' didn't exist (or was well known). So it's not like Coke that has been around for over a hundred years and it's not the same as comparing it to wine (someone implied Red Bull was like a fine wine compared to the cheaper stuff being like Lambrini).

But given the responses in this thread it's obvious Red Bull has a strong (almost Apple like) fan base that will happily pay 4 times the price for it.

Whilst there are lots of cheaper alternatives I've only ever seen one club which has used anything other than red bull for a vodka & energy mixer.

Agreed but you can't survive on those sales alone, without the mass consumer market (clubs only serve a small demographic of the whole population) they'd be in trouble (well the drink branch anyway).

I see a few places do Monster instead now in cans slightly smaller than Red Bull cans presumably to be perfect mixer size. It's not loads of places, but enough to notice.

That's true, my guess is the brand is still so strong that bars are led to believe that sales will decline if they swapped to a cheaper alternative.
Pardonthewait - what sort of clubs/bars have you seen it sold in? I'd be interested to know there's a link between the music genres these places play.

Thing is with 250ml can though is it's a bit of an awkward size for pubs, the larger 500ml cans like Relentless and Monster would be better for them in my opinion.

Sometimes a club with fill your glass (assuming you are having it with Vodka) and give the can at the end with a third of it left or so, others will put the can and the bit that's left back in the fridge and use it for the next customer.

I take pity on anyone who buys these "energy" drinks, the risk of a heart attack is increased so unfortunately.

I have two of the red cans of Relentless a day, 4 days a week. Does absolutely nothing for me, I just love the flavour way too much to stop drinking them. This started around 3 years ago.

I'm not really enjoying the £1.50 a can price though. :p

Wetherspoons are big on the Monster vodka drinks.

Nearly all the clubs in my area now sell either monster or kick instead of redbull.

The cans are perfect size for a mixer to just fill the glass.

Although i only like the taste of redbull.

£1872 on Relentless over that period .

Yes, I am bored.

If i want/require a load of energy drinks then i will either split a couple of cases with a friend or just buy cheap alternatives.
But if i just want one or two then i will always buy redbull, i think it tastes the best by far, love the stuff.

They will not go out of business unless there is a massive crack down of high caffeine drinks, then they'll all go down together.
