Another spec me a banger thread..

Galant, i got a v6 2.5l galant on a 98 plate for £630 with 110k, 6 months tax and a years mot last july, started first time every time, comfy, plenty of torque for overtakes, and sounded pretty good too.

after 11k miles, mine needed a few things doing, mainly consumables but also a blowing exhaust header pipe on the rear 3, front and rear discs, and a few ball joints so decided to call it a day, bangernomics at the end of the day regardless of what car you buy

edit: its also been sat on my dads drive since january, went over to it saturday and decided to fire it up, started on the first click even after 5 months, great motor, very tempted to get a vr4 version

Has a full service book, but been in storage for a couple of years. Bodywork is reasnoble for the age and critically, it is getting a new ticket tomorrow.

I've seen the advisories -

Offside front suspension arm has slight play in pin/bush

Offside front CV joint gaiter deteriorated, but preventing ingress of dirt

then just a couple of points on chips on the w/screen and a discoloured indicator.

My only real concern is the idle, it was a bit lumpy, jumping between 1 and 1.5k even after a good run around the block. Engine seemed to run fine otherwise.

12 month MOT is swinging it for me though.... any thoughts?
 
Guy's dreaming though - you'll get a bora for £1k no problem. Should be some reasonable enough examples out there for that cash.

R.e the primera even at a £1k cost these should be running well so not sure i'd take one with an idle problem. In saying that most hunting at idle issues are pretty easy to solve

Inlet manifold gasket or some other air leak, take a bottle of carb cleaner then spray around the inlet manifold where it joins the head, if the revs dip or rev up then there's the leak
