Do you "go shopping"?

I'm sitting outside the women's restroom with other hapless men that have been dragged along to the Trafford centre by their women, and as I look around I don't see a single shop that interests me. I buy all the things I want online, not just because they're cheaper, but because there are no shops that stock them! I have no interest in overpriced clothing.

But is that just me? Do lots of blokes enjoy frequenting these colossal money factories? There are plenty of guys here at the mall, am I the odd one out? Have shops changed or have I become disenchanted due to the availability of online shopping?

I go get things, like today i went to town to get a lamp shade. Got the lamp shade but had 15 mins left on my parking so i went "shopping", picked up a T-shirt that i didn't plan getting and almost got it, then I thought i still got a few I've not worn yet from last few weeks so I put it back....

yes, I do it, but it is not an all day thing.

I do window shop online though, normally on ASOS.

I normally look online, if I don't wait go to the high-street and get it. I rarely venture into town especially on a Saturday to randomly shop. Need to be in and out asap.

Totally agree, i find it so boring! I go and get what i need then go home, They seems to want to look in every shop and at every single item! YAWN

Well that's reassuring. I'm a "get what I came for" type of person. My impulse buying is done on OcUK website. If OcUK and other specialist stores you're interested in had shops in your local mall, would you go?

If there was a pc enthusiast store such as OcUK (i don't count currys as they're rubbish and behind on tech) and a vaping supplies outlet, a paintball shop maybe, I don't think I'd mind. I'd come and try out new stuff (does this case make my CPU cooler look fat?).

Couldn't agree more tbh, local shops down the south are utter gash, the most i buy locally is fresh ice cream from my local italians (they've been making it for 120+ years lol) and tobacco and rizla's, everything else is done online :D

I used to enjoy shopping. It was a social outlet. People watching.
Smiling at the señoritas. Having lunch.

Now I'm married, it has lost all appeal.

No as I own a pair of testicles. I also do not 'go shopping' with the wife. If she wants to browse then off she goes.

If I must go into town then I go in, buy exactly what I set out for and come home. Thankfully somebody invented the Internet where I can get what interests me without having to put up with crowds full of mouth breathing shoppers.

I'm the same, but whenever I do get roped into going shopping I never end up buying anything, because like you say they're just aren't many high street shops I'm interested in.

Funny you should mention that. There's a small shopping centre very close to OcUK called Freeport. If I ever visit there, I often think Overclockers shouls have a shop there. I wouldn't have thought it was expensive to do so.

Shopping is alright if there's another guy. I go every now and then with a mate and a couple of girls. The girls we go with are generally the type that won't have to stop and look at everything though so maybe that makes it better.

Can you imagine Joe Public trying to navigate the hoards of components though? I think solid states would be an easy sell, but beyond that it's a bit niche. I'd love for pc building to go mainstream, but most people just switch off when you get technical. Perhaps that's why malls are full of rubbish. Most people can't be bothered with anything with substance.

I worked out long ago that shops weren't targeting me for their custom. The sort of shops I would be interested in now would be considered 'specialist'.

That said, I still use shops to see items in the flesh, before buying online. Clothes shops in particular are good for fit and feel tests. They are also important when you need to be 'sold' something.

What I don't understand is why women's shops are so hot and why there isn't more chairs for poor blokes to use outside of the fitting rooms :(

i'd never buy clothes online - its all about the fit and feel, and returning is too much aggro.

Only time I'd "go shopping" is for clothes. Nothing else in the high street interests me, it all just seems like over priced ****.
