Saab was in RTA last Friday, other vehicle pulled out of a junction hit me in the side, turned the car which then drove into a very high kerb then hit a tree. Garage estimated £17,000 worth of damage all the front end floor pan, steering rack etc ripped off by the kerb, axles bent etc etc. Sending back to insurance company as they have written it off.

So im sick of fast thirsty cars and only use them to go the gym which is a 20 mile round trip take daughter school etc. £125 a week in fuel in the Saab (only 20 to the gallon). So i purchased this yesterday picked it up this morning

Audi A5 Coupe Black Edition (61 mpg combined or there abouts)

The fuel bill of the Saab pays the finance and a week or two of fuel. That said i will miss it was a very good car.

Damn shame about the Saab, looked a good example. Were you alright?

Very nice looking A5. Do quite like those, sharp looking bits of kit.

I'd put my guess at closer to 45-50mpg, unless you drive like an absolute saint everywhere but given you only got 20mpg from the Saab, I doubt you do :p

Hope no one was hurt. I always liked the new 95 and from those pics it looks like quite the accident.

But that A5 looks great, presumably the Saab was a petrol? Those consumption numbers for the A5 don't seem all that outrageous but as others have said, around the 50 mark combined seems more realistic.

Its a shame about the Company Saab, really liked some of their range. I do like your replacment though, i love Auldis in black, gives it the mobsters look :D

Strange no one has commented on the £60,000+ courtesy car. Like no questions on it?
Range Rover 4.4L 313 bhp, 0 to 60 7.5, average 28 plus miles to the gallon, 8 speed auto box etc etc.

Shame about the SAAB must off been really nice and go like stink with 330bhp

and the Rangey diesel V8 bet it had a lot of tourque :D did you enjoy it ?

Yup i still have it for a fair while yet, the only thing i can say about it is this

Yes it a a very good vehicle ride height, engine torque, toys etc
Expect for as a Prestigious vehicle i just don't get it and would never buy one for this reason. Both my brother-in-law and friend have older models with private plates, both have had 22 inch wheels and updated lights etc. If i park next to them you would never know that mine was £60,000+ and there's £26,000 and £20,000, so there it is if i was to spend that sort of money i would want a car that looked its price. Aston Martin etc.

Same is true of most stuff though really isn't it?

In much the same way, no one would know your A5 is say, a £35,000 car if it was parked next to a reasonably tidy second hand £15,000 one.

True say, 12K could buy you a old M3 for the weekend spend 8K make it a road rocket and then get a diesel A4 avant for every day for 20k, pocket the rest

and have 2 very nice cars on your drive

The face lift might be a bit of a give away but see the logic as with any cars.

So very true but £35,000 is not £67,000+ for the price of a new Range Rover. For that sort of money i would want a car that stood out a bit, say like a Skyline, R8 etc something a bit less common.

Made a right mess of that SAAB, Good to hear nobody was injured. :)

As for the new car, What I know about 12 plate motors can be written on a postage stamp. :p

Problem (not related to the RTA first claim in 25+ years and it was not my fault) i just drive to fast and need to calm down a bit at 44 i thought i would grow out of it, seems you never do. Plus most of my driving time is always in rush hour times which just kills the whole point of a big fast car. So its taken some time and i have chosen the sensible option. I can just look back at the photos of my best car R33 Skyline V Spec 450 bhp £15 a day in petrol lol, them were the days.
