G620 vs i3 2120

It depends what you want to do with it.for general use, no. For gaming or more intensive work,yes.

A friend just built a system on this, been intending to take a 6950 round to his just see how bf3 runs.

BF3 online is quite CPU damanding. My friend's GTX560Ti 2GB (roughly same speed as 6950 2GB) overclocked to 950MHz would get bottlenecked slightly by his i3 2120.

Wouldn't recommend getting the G620 for the sake of saving money...the best option is probably save up and get a 2nd hand 2500K or something.

Thanks. I'm wondering because my brother is building a rig with the G620 for mainly diablo 3 and im wondering whether he should have gone for the i3 2120. After looking at the anandtech benches though I don't personally think it's worth it.

Sounds like it'll be fine your his purposes, although if it isn't he'll still be able to sell it on and buy an i3/i5 as a replacement for minimal outlay.
