hi guys im wanting to flash my gpu which is in the title

im not a big fan of having extra apps in the backround like msi afterburner

whats the best way of flashing my card?

thank you in advance :)

Sure

Want to increase clock speeds etc

ah, in that case I would say MSI AB really is the best option. I'm not sure MSI will cover RMA's for bricked cards unless you were instructed to do so. Flashing isn't something that's done for the sake of it :p

Any reason you don't like AB?

Well its not that i dislike it, its just that i prefer to not have any apps running in the backround that could be accidently changed if you see what i mean.

ah, I'd say MSI afterburner is a very reliable piece of software.

It's certainly better than having to flash a BIOS!

As long as you don't do stupid things with the voltage/OCing, MSI AB won't damage your card.

Also, if you change things in the BIOS, then MSI will know you've OC'd

Yeah i see what you mean buddy but id rather flash the card.

:)

You don't flash the card. You just move some sliders in MSI Afterburner. If you don't like it then get a different overclocking piece of software.

There's absolutely no reason to 'flash' it.

Why on earth do you not like having applications in the background?

Blunt way of putting it, but I have to agree.

Sorry OP, but I really don't think we should be helping you do something stupid with your card :(

I appreciate the concerns guys and i appreciate the help and advice you have given me this far.

Thing is im not the only person who uses this machine and i dont want to have an overclocking app running on this machine just incase it accidently gets used and end up wrecking my card.

ive allready flashed the card once with an updated bios which had the voltage higher which has stopped my purple screen issues but im wanting to increase clock speeds etc but i cant find such a bios for my card.

Again i know the concerns and risk factor etc but its what im wanting to do.

Please guys read my post above this.

There are others that use this machine and i down want overclocking software on my machine incase it accidently gets used and wrecks my card.

This is why i want to flash it.

If anyone can be of assistance id greatly appreciate it.

There's a very good reason such a BIOS hasn't been made! It's because the manufacturers deem it unsafe!!

If anything, that'll do more harm then good!

I assure you, unless someone was wilfully trying to destroy your card with AB, they will not succeed. Even if they do, you can just RMA it. With a BIOS flash you can not RMA as they will be able to quite conclusively prove you've been overclocking!

MSI Afterburner wont 'accidently' get used. It's a perfectly safe application that I use on a daily bases which works fantasticly. You can set profiles and choose wether or not to load it up on start up.

Overclocking doesn't ruin the card as long as the voltages are in check. So if the overclock is running with you on the machine or the Queen on the machine it's the same.

If you set the overclock too high the display driver will just fail and it should revert to default clocks anyway.

I'm sorry, I don't see what the issue is. I know it sounds like I'm being rude and I'm sorry if it's coming across that way...

The irony is that, proportionately, you're much more likely to 'wreck' your card by flashing the BIOS than you are having MSI Afterburner in the background and children/criminals/grand parents at the PC :p
