pc games no longer in shops?

I think some of you are missing my point i only use diablio as an example i know you can buy games online and download them but my speed it only 2.5Mbps i can roughly download a gig per hour so if its a 8 gig install ive got to download for 8 hours which isnt very good as the rest of the family want to use the internet as well also i prefer to have a hard copy of the game. and yes i could buy the game online and have it delivered but where i live i get a lot of delivers latley not going to the correct house or they say they have been and no one is in when ive waited in all day i just dont want that hassel. it would be nice to still be able to walk into a games shop and be able to buy a pc game

Just order it from shopto, they will send it out first class & it'll fit through your door easily.

2.5Mbps is more than enough to get it downloaded, I pre-loaded the game (so I could just enter my key from the CE on release day) in a couple of nights and I'm on 1Mbps.

As above, play the starter edition for now (not 100% sure if it's out yet, if not you might be able to get a key from someone, or just wait until Blizzard release it if it hasn't been already).

Yes it would be nice to buy PC games from high street stores, quite often I've wanted to just buy a game without waiting for delivery, but can't because it's either expensive or unavailable :(

I went to a couple of places looking for the game yesterday. I have vouchers for a few major retailers so I was looking to use those but I couldn't find the game anywhere so I will have to wait till I get paid next week and then buy the download copy

Why don't you download the starter edition. Basically it works like a demo, giving you a chance to see if its your type of game.

The starter edition isn't usable at the moment without a code from one of the flyers in the retail box. The starter edition opens to all on the 15th(ish) June.

Gamestop have the standard edition for sale at £35 at the moment, and I believe that they delivered the game very quickly to those that used them for pre-orders.

Order it mail delivered. I always do this.

I'm on a 3 teather so don't want downloading for ages, plus if you reformat you have to download it all again! So I buy retail over the net so I only have to download updates. Which are annoying anyway

you don't have to re-download anything. just keep the downloaded setup folder somewhere safe ;)

maybe get a mac at least that autocorrects as you type

in other news console games are a lot more popular hence why supermarkets can sell them cheap to get people in store to buy other rubbish

Yeah let's pay twice as much for something that does the same thing as a normal laptop but with worse components. Seems logical.

Cost of: driving into town + retailer of choice not having it in stock + drive to next retailer then home.

Vs.

Internet + 8 hours overnight DL, plus having to activate it on steam amyway, thus getting insta patches and it being added to your account, so the disk would be dead space anyway.

my pc is in my room and while its a fairly quite pc i would not want to leave it on over night 1. because of the noise 2. it would get very hot in my room very quickly making it not very pleasent to sleep in 3. the lights in the pc would annoy me.

plus going to a shop and buying a game always feels better than just sitting on the pc and ordering it while internet shopping is great in a lot of ways but in other ways not so much for e.g. when my local gamestation was open they had great knowladge of all the games also recomeded a few games to try in the future and gave you very good deals it just felt more friendly.

Since game shut down near me (St Albans) there is actually not a single place that I can buy PC games from. Had to wait for payday before I could buy this then the GF gave me some money on the condition I pay her back on payday (YAY) so took a walk down town after work on Wednesday and was not able to find Diablo 3 Anywhere. Ended up ordering it on shopto for next day delivery at 6am Thursday morning (before work).

If you want the game now and prefer to have hard copies of things then buying PC games out of retail stores is getting harder and harder. Guess its because its so easy to get these online these days.

I used to get a lot of my games from Asda, but they stopped stocking them well over a year ago.

So yes, some shops haven't been selling them for quite some time now.
